That's why I've kept him among the actives in my roster projection, but I don't think he'll count against our 53 till he's active in a few weeks; maybe designated him what he is Injured/PUP-Recalled?

Injuries are gonna make several of the cuts easier (e.g. P-Rob); my most hopeful, doubtful practice squad stashes? On offense, is speedster Cyril Grayson, and on defense, is Saquan Hampton...

Probably the best pre-53 rosters Saints have ever had, and yet we still have deficiencies in depth on the offensive line...

Should he be cut, TE Dan Arnold will be Payton's last of the initial cuts this season; Payton really believes in him and what he's done to make un overlooked, unappreciated, difficult position change to TE...

Also, we could really use and will miss Mitchell Loewen with the way we're thin at DT3 Week 1, and the schedule difficulty to start the season...

I could see us keeping only 5 WRs of the ones you've listed above since we also have Harris. We would need another OT on the roster IMHO.

Yeah, and if we're even keeping the WR roster talent initially, it's to use in leverage to acquire that depth...

In his NFL Scouting Prospectus, Will Clapp was considered not only for Center, but as a Guard and a Right Tackle, so remembered that when I kept the home-grown Saint on the roster...

And I'd seriously consider moving either Ginn or Tre'Quan as well; I think we have that good of talent at all of our receiving positions which includes TE and RB...

Injuries to Anzalone, Robertson highlight why we stand pat with more picks, but we caught a break with Ellis; again, it's not always when but how many picks you have...

Patrick Robinson's slow recovery has me most bothered about the secondary, he was invaluable depth for a title run and now I just don't see him making the roster; hoping Hardee can continue to progress...

Could quibble about spending so much on Bridgewater when we could've signed another option for less and have gotten another DT, CB or even an OL...

Really like this roster and this team now can compete with the best of them...

Patrick Robinson was our top-rated defensive back before injury last year, so Philly must have done something to get him right when he was the NFL's top rated nickel back when there...

JP - you'd look to move on from Tre' after one full season in a extremely difficult offense? Wide outs take time ... it took Bobby Meach almost 3 years to grasp this and he was a 1st rd selection. Lance ... same story.

Rarely will you have players (MT and Colston) come into Sean P's offense and flourish out of the gate.

Happy for them, the Saints, and Saints fans - cost us very little, no draft capital and Coach Payton and his talent evaluators are telling us they're that good that we kept them as reserves...

And look since two years ago, when he was still posting with us, Hagan and I have been saying we needed to get younger, deeper along the offensive line...

I don’t know about Dez but I’ll take Butler or Humphrey over Carr solely on potential cause Carr has hit his ceiling and will never be Moore or even Snead...

My thought process says the Saints coaches value experience over potential. Not saying Carr is worth a roster spot but gotta believe Sean trust guys who know his system, the playbook, routes etc.

But i still believe Austin is a wasted roster spot :p.

Believe opinions on Carr are premature - This is likely the year we find out about Carr...

From the NFL, Saints Cuts thread, repeat a response to a post that suggested Carr was not comparable to Lance Moore, so I compared their numbers for perspective...

But Rez, what if the light goes off for him this season and he shines out in the slot like Lance Moore of old, isn't that a good thing?

Get some aren't buying into him; hell, I was turned off when Brees, uncharacteristically of him, public berated him on the field for not lining up correctly before; but if he's turning into the guy now that the Saints signed?

Yes but Sean Payton is very loyal to veteran players and coaches ... Ted Ginn Jr, Carr, Tommy Lee, Arnold etc.

Totally agree with you about Payton, and not disputing - just pointing out that Lance Moore didn't dance onto the scene until Year 3 and that opinions may be one season premature regarding Austin Carr...
