WR-Z (2) 19 - Ted Ginn, 10 - Tra'Quan Smith, 14 - Travin Dural, 11 - Deonte Harris (UDFA 2019)

Who will step up at the "Z" not named Ted Ginn Jr? 3'Quan will be better, more confident with the playbook in year 2 ... I hope. Travin will need to stay out of the hot tub or he'll become a ghost in New Orleans.

Coach Nolan touched on this yesterday with Alex ... 2nd year in, high football IQ/team player and it willing to improve. Wears a lot of hats (plays all 3 LB spots) & has tremendous growth.

Stay healthy Alex. We need you.

Special teams. Teams that excel here are usually still playing in January.

Gotta disagree with you there. Payton's frustration, evident having to keep addressing punt returner the past two~three years - he's throwing a few options against the wall to see what sticks...

Don't think that job is really anybody's - it's who is gonna to take it and (wait for it) - run with it...

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

Nielsen likes the way Biegel sets the edge, and he likes the length of his 6-foot-3 frame and the toughness Biegel brings.

He called back to Biegel’s time at Wisconsin, where he recorded 14 sacks in his last three years, as part of the reason the Saints wanted to get a look at him on the edge.

“He’s got some rush ability to him,” Nielsen said. “There’s something there. He’s not in pads, but we’ll continue this through camp, and you will see the progression after this break when we get back.”

I really like this. There’s a lot of upside here.

36 - Kayvon Webster (FA 2019) ... < ---- sleeper. Former 3rd round pick for the Broncos (member of that SB winning team). Multiple leg injuries/concussions etc but he will push others at t/c. His health will be key.

Veteran experience with a ring.

Travin is a younger Meredith. All the tools, suffered from sub par QB play in college (as did all other LSU receivers).

I'd like to see him stick around.

LSU is trying to match Alabama's Power Run Game, Stupid...

LSU needs to go more Pro-Set with the WRs they somehow keep bringing in every recruiting class; with that offense they'll draw elite passing prospects...

And then they can throw over those big Bama defensive lines, or at the least, they can dink and dunk and neutralize those Bama front lines...

Porter Gustin will get looks in the sub-package as well after he assimilates Basic NFL 101...

Problem is Bama's LBs are always tops in the nation. GA exposed them in the slot though.

Bama players are terrific athletes, yet they're inexperienced; that's why a USC-South approach, giving multiple looks on offense, could be the equalizer LSU needs to get over the hump and bring balance to the SEC-West...

And while a great passer would be a plus, a smart, mature game manager (e.g. Matt Flynn) proficient in pre-snap reads, could challenge Saban's defenses as LSU does have the athleticism on offense...

Re: 2019 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

Took a stab at a pre-training camp 53-man roster. I expect Sheldon Rankins to be on PUP and PJ Williams to be suspended for his DUI so neither are listed.

Offense

QB- 9 Drew Brees, 5 Teddy Bridgewater, 7 Taysom Hill
HB- 41 Alvin Kamara, 28 Latavius Murray, 37 Buck Allen, 32 Devine Ozigbo
FB- 42 Zach Line
WR- 13 Michael Thomas, 19 Ted Ginn, 10 Tre’Quan Smith, 18 Keith Kirkwood, 12 Rishard Matthews
TE- 87 Jared Cook, 89 Josh Hill, 85 Dan Arnold, 86 Alizé Mack
OT- 72 Terron Armstead, 71 Ryan Ramczyk, 70 Michael Ola
OG- 75 Andrus Peat, 67 Larry Warford, 62 Nick Easton
OC- 78 Erik McCoy, 63 Cameron Tom

Defense

DE- 94 Cam Jordan, 92 Marcus Davenport, 91 Trey Hendrickson, 50 Wes Horton, 57 Carl Granderson
DT- 90 Malcom Brown, 93 David Onyemata, 97 Mario Edwards, 95 Taylor Stallworth
LB- 56 Demario Davis, 47 Alex Anzalone, 53 AJ Klein, 52 Craig Robertson, 59 Vince Biegel
CB- 23 Marshon Lattimore, 25 Eli Apple, 21 Patrick Robinson, 39 Kayvon Webster, 34 Justin Hardee, 35 Marcus Sherels
FS- 43 Marcus Williams, 33 Saquan Hampton, 31 Chris Banjo
SS- 24 Vonn Bell, 22 Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

I wanted to find a spot for Kaden Elliss, Porter Gustin or another WR... But I can’t until I see them make some noise in training camp.

In the May OTA's they were working him at that position, I'll update this post when I find the photo(s)...

With his length, it makes sense, since he can swing those speed rushers on wider arcs...

He's still not practicing in OTAs, Mini-Camp. When Training Camp hits, he may be limited, or not available as his knee is still problematic...

For what picks we had, I'm pleased with our draft - but look at the middle of the line - now I really wished we'd kept Kelemete and had that No.1 this year to get a starting guard...

What's up with Larry Warford? It seems he's been listed in red for quite some time now.

Two concerns. First and foremost his actual health and outlook. Second, this seems like a repeat of what happened in Detroit where 'he was and he wasn't injured' and that creates multiple issues like...

Were the Saints reporting his injuries, compliantly??? Don't want those SOBs at the League Office creating unnecessary distractions...

Is he gonna be problematic like Mr. Glass?

Sorry, can't help it, but we should've signed Zeitler; despite being traded (that'll be a big mistake) he's playing at an All-Pro level and would've put that Saints' right side on HOF levels...

Easton may actually have been signed as Center as a smokescreen, when the Saints knew they had problems with the guards; we may need to keep as many as ten (10) offensive linemen this season...

JP,

That is concerning for me. IIRC Bobby Hebert asked about Larry's absence from OTA's and all we got from Payton was "he's training, rehabbing. He will be out sooner than later".

Those "undisclosed" injuries scare the hell out of me  ... even in June.

Officially, the National Football League does not require teams' disclosure of injuries outside of regular season, post-season games (where gambling is involved)...

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) privacy rights were waived by the NFLPA (NFL Players' Union) in the NFL CBA (NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement)...

Get not showing your hand (always think back to 70s movie M*A*S*H and The Longest Yard where the teams make it a point to get x-rays of pre-existing injuries while scouting, exploiting same), but

what concerns me is players start spilling beans in social media about last season injuries that were less than reported, published (e.g. Davenport turf toe); that cracks the team's door to the league office...

Specifically with Warford, he's missed a few games/season except for his rookie year, only grading with PFF over 80 twice - his outstanding 84.9 rookie year (best to date) and 80.3 his contract year in DET...

Of the games Warford's missed, they've been against some pretty impressive DTs - so that's the biggest flag for me...

Don't think we've ever been this deep in the secondary...

We've had better safeties, but not CBs, and certainly the talent level has never, ever been this deep at all five spots...

33 - Saquan Hampton (R6P4, #177)

Played a lot of special teams, leadership (Captain @ Rutgers) skills and has good range/recovery speed.

Diamond in the rough?? Coach him up!
