Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Not really worth looking at our own 5th as a 5th really though. Its no different that giving up a early 6th. So long as the team has the season they should on paper both trade ups have not cost that much. IMO anyway

New Orleans Saints: Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, S, Florida A+ Grade
There was some chatter that Chauncey Gardner-Johnson could sneak into the opening round, but I always had him mocked in the second frame. Gardner-Johnson is small, but he's a terrific play-maker. I heard that he fell because he didn't handle himself well during top-30 visits, but the Saints are getting an exceptional defensive back. |

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
True, but with as many quality players as there are in this draft, I'd rather give up every single one of the 6th and 7th round picks in order to stay a little higher. If it's hard for a 5th rounder to crack the roster then its potentially pointless to even have later picks.

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Read earlier that the Saints lined up in the nickel 79% of last season(2nd in NFL) makes sense to get better in a important position. Hopefully the Jenkins comparisons come to fruition

PJ Williams... well he’s PJ Williams. You take the good with the bad. It’s going to be awesome having CGJ as a nickel/dime CB option. Not to mention, he’ll be way better in deep zone coverage than Vonn Bell so Cover 2 becomes more effective. |

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Agreed the scout reports say he needs to start reading things better but couldn't have a better coach than Aaron Glenn to get him there. Hopefully someone really steps up for the CB2 job as the nickel looks pretty good and should get the takeaways if the front gets enough pressure

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Draft
Can’t understand moving up 9 spots for a guy who may have been there at 14. We gave up a 5th when we need depth on both lines.
