Re: I Want Drew Brees Back IF.......
It seems to me that Brees just had the best game in history recently. He's still setting all kind of records and out of those 29 passes several were beautifully thrown deep balls. Taysom is not the answer and neither is Teddy. Not if you want to win another Super bowl. You need a special QB and we've already got one. He can manage this game for several more years. I for one am not willing to give up on the best passer ever.....and that includes this season. This loss was not on Drew. It was on the team.

Re: I Want Drew Brees Back IF.......
By the way, on the deep ball that was incomplete, I said in game chat in again in one of the post-game threads, the WR was mugged. Of course it wasn't called, but here's the shot of that play.
How much more before some of you realize it does not matter. Roger is controlling these games to the extent he is able by using the refs and either non-calls or fabricated ones? |

Re: I Want Drew Brees Back IF.......
The last two years in SD he had the arm strength for the deep ball. Right now he can’t even make the midrange throws without coming up short

Re: I Want Drew Brees Back IF.......
That's not the argument being made. Seems like arm strength wasn't a problem until the loss. No one was complaining when he was breaking the completion percentage record a few weeks ago.

Re: I Want Drew Brees Back IF.......
Haven't we learned anything from the last 3 years of playoff appearances? We are the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over & over but expecting a different result. I love Drew & want him to retire a Saint. I also want to keep Payton. But something needs to change...attitudes, personnel, coaches? They were not hungry enough. Did they win too many games? Therefore becoming complacent? I can't answer these questions. I know that I am outraged by their performance, not only in the vikings game but for the last 3 playoff appearances.
I do know that if something doesn't change, next season will have the same results even if we make it to the playoffs. |

He broke the completion percentage record throwing nothing but short and intermediate passes. That Colts team barely even showed up for that game. And this is the thing with Brees, now. He still has all the accuracy in the world for the intermediate stuff, and if you give him all day in the pocket, he can do things that make it seem like he'll play forever. But get him off his spot where he has to improvise, and maybe slide out of the pocket and throw on the run? He becomes totally ineffective. And when somebody breaks open deep? Doesn't matter. The ball won't get there, 90% of the time. Sam Bradford once held the record for completion percentage in a season. What does completion percentage really say about a QB? It all depends on what kind of passes he's throwing, and whether or not he can make all the throws that you need him to, in big moments, in order to win. I don't see the big moment throws from him anymore. At least not much. There are people, some in this thread even, who don't want to see it that way and will quickly fall back on the team's record this year and say "we don't get there without Brees". That excuse should have been dead by the time Brees came back from injury, and the team had just gone 5-0 without him. It would seem that the Saints actually have a good TEAM, not just a one man show. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

I don't care if we go 16-0 every season,if we're one and done in the playoffs, wtf does it matter? We've upgraded everything on this team except for two things that remain....payton and brees. |

Re: I Want Drew Brees Back IF.......
Being the division champ does mean something, especially two years in a row! But I think I speak for the majority of football fans when I say that when the stars align and you have a really good team with a really good coaching staff,it's hard to be complacient with just being division champs. Last year's ending was out of the saints control, but this year was on us. I'm pretty disappointed, and being division champs falls short compared to what shoulda been...
