He wants more than $4M.

Ill put his 2012 performance into perspective for you.

Patrick Robinson - 18 passes defended.
Nnamdi - 12 passes defended.....
2012 NFL Player Defense Stats - National Football League - ESPN

2011
Greer - 18
Nnamdi - 5

Look at his stats... Help me understand why he is so stellar in so many peoples eyes. if he is not an upgrade to Patrick Robinson why do we want him?

A cornerback is measured on the following correct?

Passes Defended
Interceptions
Possibly sacks?

Nnamdi Asomugha Stats - ESPN
Patrick Robinson Stats - New Orleans Saints - ESPN

2012 CB rankings
Advanced NFL Stats Player Statistics
Greer and Robinson rank higher

2011 CB rankings
Porter, Robinson and Greer ranked higher
Advanced NFL Stats Player Statistics

2010 CB rankings

Nnamdi doesn't even make the list but played 14 games
Porter and greer both on the list
Advanced NFL Stats Player Statistics

2009 CB Rankings
Greer and Porter above him again
Advanced NFL Stats Player Statistics

I must be missing something. For a first round draft pick his play seems underwhelming.

We all know he sucked the past 2 years... there's no denying that. But we're talking in the instance that he takes a reduced amount of money. While he may not or become stellar anymore, he still young enough to be an above average cornerback again. It's all about risk reward... if the risk isn't high, it doesn't hurt to kick the tires on him.

Remember there was a time in Oakland under Ryan when teams flat out refused to throw the ball on his side of the field. So if we're looking at his counting stats, it's not going to be up there. His play in Oakland was far from underwhelming... he was arguably the best cornerback in the league.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

All little common sense goes a long way.

We just signed a new corner.............NA is larger than life everywhere except on the field. Greer is the man this coming season and is going to be our number one corner for a couple of more years. P Rob has been given one more chance. We've still got White who is up and coming and another corner whose name escapes me...........he was strong last year before going to IR. So I'll pass on NA.

yeah... I guess you want fewer passes defensed.. meaning they don't wanna throw on your side ... still has he now become a Jason David impersonator?

Not that this does him any favors, but I think he has the Randy Moss syndrome. Great talent that has motivational issues. And from what I've read, he hated his time in Philly. He was isolated towards his teammates and come meal time, he'd go sit in his car and eat by himself.

That lockeroom was kinda toxic tho....I don't think he was used to that at all. Which probably isolated him from the rest of the team. I mean come on Philly is brutal to play in especially when you're stuggling. I would sit in my car and eat too just to get some peace when dealing with the media in the lockeroom, to the diva players. Nnamdi has always been a quiet and humble person...I don't think that lockeroom meshed well with his personality.

I think here he could get back to his playing roots with RR and being in a humble enviroment...not going to have to deal with media in you face all day everyday because we all know Payton (especially now) is not playing that.

Good point... I forgot about the media aspect and fan base side of it too.

I want him but at the same time Oak doesnt and he appears to be probably a very knowledgable saints fan.

But now I think Long is a bigger need. I hope the guy signs with the cards or chargers if not us.

re: Nnamdi Asomugha (All in one)

So.. I am honestly asking. Do you think its a better chance his play has dropped off in the last two years because he was in Philly or because he has been playing for 10 years and lost his step... Ive heard a lot of what I call experts (that have participated in this game from playing to coaching to FO) say he has lost a step or two at 30 Yo.

With 8 years in the league before he went to Philly, he had to have known how the place was..

He also does not play special teams anymore, which I think lowers his value even more.

Smoke and mirrors brother

I have just seen the Saints pick up way too many (used to be's) in my lifetime, because lets face it, we love a BIG name coming to town... At a time when we are short on money and long on need... I can see us getting better value for our $ with less risk... Risk is my biggest concern.... as we can not afford to be wrong and have him come in and have lost his step.

Sharper had one good year left in him and we got that but after 2009 he was done.
