New Orleans also announced the signings of running back Malcolm Brown, defensive end Scott Patchan and center Nick Martin. To make room for the signings, the Saints waived punter Daniel Whelan, offensive linemen Derek Schweiger and defensive back Jordan Miller.

Let's turn this around from just beating the dead horse.

In your estimation what does MT13 have to do in 2022 such that folks will finally stop talking about his extended absence from the team?

I think folks are missing the point that the Saints are being super extra cautious with MT13 because the last time he was rushed back onto the field, he ended up losing an entire season. Just personally I could care if he plays one whit in training camp and preseason if that makes him more available during the regular season in 2022.

What say you?

I don’t have any goals in mind he needs to achieve to prove himself. If he comes back, plays hard, is available, and helps the team win without attitude (being a good mentor to Olave) then all is good in my mind; 100 catches or 30.

I want wins. Don't care how we get there or who's responsible. Lutz could kick 15 field goals a game. As long as it's a W I'm good.

Love that Malcolm Brown signing. Stud backup. Could be a baller for 6 games.

Saints News Network's John Hendrix reports Michael Thomas participated in the Saints' first day of training camp practice on the field with his teammates.

In Tuesday's press conference, Mickey Loomis confirmed with local reporters that New Orleans placed the All-Pro wide receiver on the team's PUP list. However, today, Thomas was active during the morning workout session, running routes and catching passes.

Nope. I did see him make sure he remained inbounds.

No.

Rugs, are you attending any of the training camps? I believe it's open to the general public this upcoming Saturday.

Tickets went fast for Saturday the 30th and Saturday the 6th. Season ticket holders got first dibs and then people on the waiting list. We were noticed by the Saints to claim ours, but we knew we couldn't make it. Just a few hours after distribution opened a friend of my son's wondered if he could have them. I checked right away and they were all gone ... for both Saturdays.

Thanks but I was specifically asking Rugs AG.

In a post a month or so ago he posted a question to the B&G family if anyone was willing to meet up with him and his brother & talk football, enjoy the event, and whatnot.

Yeah. I know that. He said he was hoping to go on the 30th or 6th. I posted ticket availability info in his thread when I found out tickets were gone for those days. I was repeating it here since you brought it up. I also posted a tweet with the five days that still had tickets remaining in his thread.

When I first saw the headline "Malcolm Brown" ... I was thinking of the DT that used to play for us.

Anyways, good luck to the RB MBrown.

Liked Yazoo City product - RB Kenneth Gainwell who had 6 TDs for the Eagles...

RBs love the game like no other position; signings like these can be those deep, deep under-the-radar signings that not even the GMs fully realize...

My choice would have been fmr LSU RB Darrel Williams who was trending well, adapting to the NFL game...

I understand it's super early @ camp but looking at this current roster ...

There is a 33-year-old Demario & second-year player in Pete. After that, it gets dicey. Someone else at camp will need to step it up & make a serious impression on Ryan/Kris and Allen.

17 games + the postseason is an absolute grind.

The keyword here is DEPTH.

Something else to consider is something rezburna pointed out a few days ago. With the talent and depth we have at DB we may be seeing more dime and even dollar packages. The LB depth required for a standard 4-3 is much greater than running a 4-1 for a sizable chunk of defensive alignments. We may end up carrying fewer LB's than what we have in the past given the lack of need.

Given the amount of passing going on in the league now that seems highly plausible.
