Re: Head Coach Search
The best way to do this without changing schemes and losing the good coaches we have is to make Dennis Allen the head coach, Ryan Nielsen the DC and keep Pete Carmichael as OC if he wants to stay.

Re: Head Coach Search
What a pounding we be taking. Ouch.

Re: Head Coach Search
I’m not saying I want Allen as HC. But I would not dismiss him just because he struggled with. Raiders. A LOT of coaches struggled with that franchise. His tenure there was a while ago and he likely learned a lot about being a HC serving under Payton. Belichick struggled with his first head coaching job too.

Looks like whichever one(if they do) gets promoted you likely lose the other. Shame we lost Dam Campbell last year as he looks like he will be a good HC, thought he did well all things considered in Detriot |
Re: Head Coach Search
Is it wrong that i would like to start a rumour going that Rex Ryan is coming in as HC and bringing back Rob as DC just to see the reaction?

Re: Head Coach Search
Simple have Sean swap jobs with Drew, keep the existing staff.
I think Drew would make an outstanding Coach.. So now back to reality....... |

Also that press conference was hard to watch..

Players won't matter if the coaching isn't there thats what separate teams in the league EVERYONE HAS TALENT not everyone has coaching; this transition is going to be CRUCIAL. The Saints need to take a Vacay as well and follow Sean because they have some big decisions to make as well

Dennis Allen. Great job with the defense. Familiar to everyone. Deserves another shot after the Raiders dysfunctional organization. The Saints don't need an overhaul. Just a smooth transition.

Re: Head Coach Search
Cap hell is the reality even if some won’t admit it. Yes we could keep the band together if we restructure all our big contracts to prorate more bad money into future years, but the band was 9-8, will be a year older and more injuries in, and this will just put us in the same cap hell next year. In this cycle we cant add anyone and the bad contracts we restructure leave them with even more guaranteed money and potential dead cap if cut in future years, so we end uo renewing our vows with taysom hill, andrus peat, and michael thomas, tearing up whatever prenup we might have, betting big on Lattimore being the same player in his 30’s, and the cycle continues until Peat is 45 and inactive every week with a $100 million cap his if his 10 years of prorated bonuses are triggered with a cut.
Top coaches would not be wise to take the Saints job. The best bet is for young defensive coaches who this is their only shot, who can make a name on our defensive players even if the offense is poor, and perhaps weather the storm and get a job as a top DC even if they just last 2 mediocre to poor seasons here. A young offensive coach would be unwise to take the Saints gig given our only decent receiver combined then grievances of a young antonio brown with the ankle health of a post-browns terrelle pryor, our top qb under contract is a 30-something running qb coming off a multiweek concussion and lis franc injury who has never stayed healthy as a starter at any level, we are locked into playing Andrus Peat and or paying his medical bills by his bad contract, we dont have the cap to make improvements, and to make a splash a young OC simply needs to succeed with the same pieces that Sean Payton couldnt. So an Aaron Glenn or Dennis Allen could make sense. Or someone could insist on a 5-10 year contract and GM powers and do the rebuild for 2 years. |

I’m leaning more towards continuity. Let’s go Dennis Allen.

People can grow and change, but Eric Bieniemy has a history of being a pretty big piece of crap. There’s reasons teams won’t hire him.

I hadn't considered this possibility. He has the in-state ties, for sure.

Re: Head Coach Search
Bieniemy is piece of trash. He's the type of coach that, if left in charge, will let the locker room destroy itself. Just my opinion. I'd rather not have him coaching the Saints. Him being a member of the Saints in any capacity would be ironic.

Re: Head Coach Search
I really don’t think we have much of a choice. Coaches won’t exactly be lining up at the door given our cap and Qb situation.
If you are trying to get your first chance as a HC you want to go with a team that’s trending up instead of one that’s just…trending. This is going to be a tough place to succeed for a while. I think DA is probably the safest bet right now. We can finally make a push for Gruden, or Urban Mayer for that matter. Wonder what the draft is going to look like now. |
