Head Coach Search
So do you continue with the in house team or start searching outside?
Going to be a big offseason, cant see the big tradable QB looking to come in without Payton at the helm. For me i would be looking outside for a fresh coach with new ideas who can build the team he wants, not trying to carry on with the same plan with a difference voice. Or if you want to go down the Dennis Allen route would you just change things up at OC Who would the forum look at as possible replacements |
Re: Head Coach Search
The turd bucket got Taysom Hill a contract extension and ducked the hell out. I'm getting pretty pissed thinking about this.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-orle...om-hill-22021/ I'm fine with promoting within. |
Re: Head Coach Search
If I have my way DA is the answer and we keep the rest of Sean's staff.
|
Re: Head Coach Search
Depends…Is he done with the Saints or just taking a year off? I think that’s the deciding factor.
I’m pissed that he was good with giving Taysom that contract then leaving. Might as well start trading/cutting players that were bad decisions. Hill, Peat, Ruiz, Jenkins, etc… |

Re: Head Coach Search
Caldwell could slowly get us out of cap hell and build a good overall team. I'm not an Allen fan. Just wonder if he bails if he doesn't get the HC job even if so there are some pretty good DC's out there.

Re: Head Coach Search
The more i think of it the more i would look to move in a fresh team.
Promote those young enough who want to be there long term. Problem i see staying with someone like Pete Carmichael is he will likely try to stay with the same playbook he has been used to for the past 15 years and the league is rapidly changing. And we have no Brees who was the playbook. For me i would be looking for a young coach, let him build his team and stick with him. It would likely be painful for a year or two while you clear some of the highly overpayed players who won't be around but clear him cap space over the next season or two for picks and let him rebuild for the long term. I honestly think the worse thing to do would be to panic and try and hold it all together, keep the vets as a need presence etc and Clearing space by extending the like of Peat,Jenkins etc again. Again something that would likely mean some hard trades(Jordan/Thomas) etc. |
Re: Head Coach Search
Bring in a young, innovative offensive mind.
Kellen Moore, Eric Bienemy, Byron Leftwich, or Bryan Daboll (Bills OC). |
Re: Head Coach Search
I'm good with that too. But in doing so, you likely lose the majority of the defensive staff as well.
|
Re: Head Coach Search
Wonder if Pete Carmichael would get any consideration?
|
Re: Head Coach Search
They don’t have to look any further than the defensive side of the ball.
|
Re: Head Coach Search
Looks like Dennis Allen and Aaron Glenn are the first two set up for interviews.
|
Re: Head Coach Search
Scratch Brian Daboll from the list ...
He's going to become the next Giants HC. |
Re: Head Coach Search
Goddamnit....
|
Re: Head Coach Search
I have no freaking idea. This is messed up.
|
Re: Head Coach Search
Welp....No Brees. No Payton. We're ****ed. Start looking at the top 5 draft in the next few seasons. We're destined for mediocrity or worse. Lol
|
Re: Head Coach Search
And with the first pick of the 2023 NFL Draft the New Orleans Saints select Quarterback C.J. Stroud/Bryce Young.

Re: Head Coach Search
I definitely want an offensive minded coach. It will take sometime to pick ourselves up off the floor. It's a rotten time for him to make this decision. I feel like he has given up because Drew retired. I truly appreciate everything he has done for the city and the team. He will go down as one of the special ones and I hope we'll find another like him.
|
Re: Head Coach Search
Realistically, I’m guessing Dennis Allen will be the head coach. I don’t know if Pete Carmichael sticks around to be OC.

I posted a couple of years ago that Sean would leave right after Drew retired and I got blasted. I had a gut feeling and I hoped was wrong but now I hope we get rid of players that should of been gone long time ago. Yes, I’m talking to you Peat. |
Re: Head Coach Search
There’s no way I would hire 8-28 Dennis Allen to take over for Sean Payton. Give someone like Eric Bienemy, Kellen Moore, or Byron Leftwich a chance.

If Allen wants to walk because of that so be it. Look to keep Nielsen and Richards on board and promote one to DC. |
Re: Head Coach Search
Aren't we going to need to interview Bienemy, Leftwich, Caldwell, etc. per the Rooney rule?

That's what I'm thinking too. Just couldn't remember if the Rooney rule applied to any coaching vacancy reason (in our case, resignation/retirement) or firing. What a day. We were just recently lauding this as one of CSP's best coaching years and a dark-horse COTY candidate especially had we made the playoffs. :( |

I wish Ryan Nielsen had a little more NFL coaching experience. By all accounts he’s a head coach in the making but he just isn’t quite there yet.

If we can get Brian Flores, maybe he can lure Deshawn Watson here. It's been said Flores is the only coach he'd play for.

Re: Head Coach Search
Regardless of the perceived issues around the cap, personnel, etc. - any coach who's spoken to Sean Payton over the years has to know what a tremendous organization this us be to work for.
There should be a LONG line of quality candidates eager to coach the Saints and work with Loomis and Benson. |

Re: Head Coach Search
So, Payton can’t coach another team until/unless the Saints give permission while he is under contract, correct?
