Dennis Allen is 8-28 as a head coach. I don’t care where or why I care that in three seasons he could not break .250 as a Head Coach. The Raiders were 8-8 the season before he arrived and 7-9 the season after he left.

Moving Dennis Allen to HC f***s with our defense. STOP f***ing with a great defense. We are going to NEED the continuity of Allen+his defense to get us through the teething pains of a new HC, QB, and offensive game plan. The defense is the ONLY stable piece to our puzzle.

That's all good and fine IF Dennis Allen was willing and able to remain as DC with someone else on the staff assuming HC duties. Or, able to remain on as DC if someone from the outside assumes those duties. I cannot remember a time that a team brought in a HC from elsewhere and kept the prior HC's staff in place. It could have happened, but not to my knowledge.

Oh yes we do, but we DO NOT have a race-baiter. Well, we have one, but he won't be doing that here anymore. ;)

You definitely have good reason for wanting Allen to take over for Payton. One would think/hope we could maintain continuity with that move. I think you’re probably right in that regard. I just think we’d benefit from a new mind on the offensive side of the ball. We need some innovators. I think our offense is a little stale even with the players that we’ve lost. The way SF is using Deebo Samuel and Miami so using Jaylen Waddle, I’d love to see that level of creativity. Why haven’t we put Harris at running back and had him run routers with a linebacker matched on him? We gotta continue to grow with the league…or better yet be a step ahead of the league. I don’t think Allen would provide that spark.

But it’s likely that a new Head Coach coming from outside the organization would want his own staff. Plus, Allen may bolt if not given the HC job. Point is A LOT could change if an outside coach comes in. Less likely changes if Allen is promoted.

THE INDIANAPOLIS COLTS COACH FRANK REICH inherited the partial coaching staff assembled by Josh McDaniels prior to his backing out of the job.

Three assistant coaches – defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo and defensive line coach Mike Phair – already had been hired during the post-season.

This year Matt Eberflus, Defensive Coordinator was hired by the Bears to become their Head Coach.

I get where you are coming from as far as the offense goes. I'd like to see what Pete Carmichael is capable of coming completely out from the shadow of Sean Payton. Sure, he's done some playcalling and "playbooking", but Payton has always been in the driver's seat when it came to the offense. Even during the suspension year it was the Payton playbook they were running. Not sure of anyway to keep what semblance of success we have going without keeping pieces in place.

Our cap is not as dire as some think. They just do not understand the dynamics of this cap management concept. Our roster is also not lacking of talent. There's no reason why we can't keep anyone we want as far a free agents go. We have the second best record in the NFL over the past five seasons, including 2021. It's definitely not time for a rebuild.

Speaking of which, here's the odds which you can bet.

Aaron Glenn +300
Pete Carmichael +500
Doug Pederson +600
Eric Bieniemy +700
Joe Lombardi +900
Kellen Moore +1000
Drew Brees +2500

I would expect the Saints to be favorites at winning the division in 2022 given the current landscape. Tampa Bay went all in with free agents the past two seasons. They now have a very real reason to rebuild. Carolina and Atlanta remain bleh.

I'm for Allen. He's grown as a defensive coordinator here and I have no reason to think he won't grow as Head Coach. He has past bad experience and has also been working with a master now for a long time. Continuity for him as well as us would be great. I say it's worth it as it is minimal risk and keeps us on track. Remember THIS coaching staff went through this crazy season together. I BELIEVE THEY WILL BE STRONGER FOR IT. Pull the trigger Ms. B!

Actually, never thought of Doug Peterson. Maybe we should take a hard look.

I have all ideas this is the plan. Can't know 'til we know, but I would imagine the people in the building knew this was at least possible and would have been running through their options. My guess is they've known about this at least since we were officially eliminated.

Echoing similar statements made after the departure of Drew Brees, Mickey Loomis has said that the Saints are not looking to rebuild following the retirement of Sean Payton.

Not much we haven't already read or heard, but it has 22 possibilities with odds.

Odds released for new Saints 2022 head coach

The list is topped by people with current or former ties to New Orleans.

By Chris Dunnells @ChrisDunnells Jan 31, 2022, 9:00am CST

For the first time since the 2005 offseason, the New Orleans Saints do not know who their head coach will be after the retirement of Sean Payton.

Our pals over at DraftKing Sportsbook think they have a good idea, though. Current Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen is considered the overwhelming favorite to become the next head coach for the New Orleans Saints (+150). This makes sense considering Sean Payton’s casual endorsement of Dennis Allen for the job, Allen’s familiarity with the roster and personnel, and his prior experience - all be it not great experience - as a head coach in the past.

Id love to see Turley's reaction to one of those Roger-motivated "bad" calls.

On second thought, naw. That wouldn't be anything I'd want my kid to see...lol

Thinking outside the box a little here. She's smart enough to know not to run for President, how about we make her our coach? I don't know if she knows anything about football, but she'd manage the hell out of the people she hired.

Proven HC, worked under Reid and has skins in the game.

He coached high school (Calvary Baptist Academy) here in Shreveport for four years so he does have a Louisiana tie.
