Observations from the Saints win vs Seahawks

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; wait, how can this be? All the sports media experts and all the armchair coaching experts said Taysom Hill was not a QB. Yet he took about 10 snaps at QB today and single-handedly won the game. I'm so confused. ...

And that is how you use him effectively. He’s not a starting quarterback. He’s a gadget player that’s effective when used properly.

I respect your opinion.
However, I'm of the opinion that he can be a starting QB if used properly, not Pete's vanilla play calling, but a dynamic offense designed for Taysom's strengths & run-threat.
The dude trained to be a TE this season and so far he's been our most effective QB, and still gets labeled as a gadget?... ok, whatever.

Andy has been the most effective QB. Taysom was Taysom Hill AK Olave did what they do as well as Trequan.

Even if an effective, lasting offense could be designed and implemented for Hill I don’t think he’d stay healthy enough to run it. He can be feature for 1/3 of the game, but won’t last full time under center.

Agreed! And they finally let him throw one which is a must too keep the defences guessing when he is in.

Very simple. Seattle has a bottom 5 run defense in the NFL and a bad defense in general. Against that a 1930 Army-Navy offense which is what we get with Taysom at QB will work like a charm. But against a better run defense Taysom will look like Tim Tebow. What Tebow could only do in college, Taysom can do against bad defenses on good days in he pros, but not consistently or durably.

Dalton again, wasn't perfect but he looked like he saw the field much better than Winston would. His decision making and accuracy are way above Winston's.

We still need a franchise QB but Winston should honestly be 3rd on the depth chart.

Season still early, find a trade partner for him
maybe we can get an 8th round pick in 2050
