I can't remember the exact names but I feel like something like this happened about 5 years ago where the Saints rushed to sign some garbage safety from Carolina or Cincinnati who barely played for fairly good money on the first day or two of free agency and then as free agency continued a bunch of top safeties remained unsigned and the Steelers got an elite safety for dirt cheap.
