DetLions made some of those football mistakes. saints did too. Some of those mistakes are just hard to figure why it happened for either team. It happens in all games. Bress almost had an interception there and the ball went right through DetLions hands. That a huge mistake on DetLions. That was a huge mistake on Saints part too. Fate just intervened there in Saints favor.

Play should have been dead once the whistle blew. Saints ball and Detroit getting screwed. The officials did them a favor by giving them possession. They couldn't capitalize on our mistakes and who came back and stomped them. Whether or not Schwartz feel like they beat themselves or not, boo hoo... enjoy the rest of your off season sulking in your own misery.

After a very tough, maybe not totally accurately called game, a very, very, very small coach marched up to the officials and said, "I'm not happy!"
The White Hat looked down at him and asked, "Oh yeah, then which one are you?"

The only difference I see would have been a possible 35 to 52 score. Even in an ideal Detroit world, there's no way they would have won. They played hard, much better than the first game. Congrats to them, it's great to see them back in the playoffs. It'll be good for Schwartz to have a year to grow up a bit.

I actually thought that the refs did a better job this time around than week 13 and there were very few questionable calls made in this game.

The Brees fumble has already been beaten to death - - but to reiterate, as the call was originally made it should've been Saints' ball. Now, that wouldn't have been the right call, and the refs did do what they could to correct it by giving the ball to the Lions. But to say that it would've been a TD return is going out on a limb in a big way.

As for Schwartz's comments about the refs having a big impact on the outcome... well that is clear, because if there were no refs it would be total chaos!

But it seems to me that blaming the refs is something that is very popular among the fanbase of the Lions, because even before this game there were threads on their fan sites claiming that the Lions could only win the game if they got a certain officiating crew and in the case of certain crews - they wouldn't have a chance, because there was supposed to be some conspiracy against the Lions.

The Saints were the better team and, furthermore, the Lions suck and they are an immature team - from the players to the HC - that will never become better than what they were this season.... hope they can find some joy in those 1950's championships because they won't be getting any newer ones [purple glasses inserted]

Loser.

That's Lame!

OK, that quick whistle after the Brees fumble sucked, but they still had an extra opportunity to get it into the endzone. I also did see a face mask on the Saints that was not called.

BUT, neither of these had anything to do with the Lions defense unable to force the Saints to punt not once in the game!

Schwartz should be happy with the success he's had this season and look towards going further next season!

The thing I did like about the Lions is the underdog status and the long shot team they've been all season. I admit I like an underdog.

I don't like the character of some of the staff and players, however.

If Suh wouldv'e tried to stomp on Brees or one of our players,
the outcome on the field would have been far different, is my guess.

That chest bumping / post game handshake episode and whining like a beatch after the Saints shellacked the Lions, proves a lot about your coach. You seem like a human, but he seems like a douchewagon.

I'd fire his arse.

It's not up to me, but if it was, I wouldn't necessarily fire him . . . the man's got skills . . . I'd take him and a few players aside and give them a period of instruction in good ol' fashioned leadership principles & traits, and then I'd supervise. And don't think I haven't already contacted the team more then once to offer my services . . . at no charge. As a former Marine Corps NCO and combat veteran, I think I'm more then qualified to address that issue with the team. I've handled plenty of young kids in high profile, stressful situations, it's the same all-around . . . handling prima-donna, overpaid, professional athletes would be a walk in the park ... but I think my PTSD is starting to kick in, so I gotta' go.

go Lions.
