Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
The two guys on Walter football have us going either Jesse Williams or Jamie Collins in the third.I like Williams but if Hicks is going to see time at NT if rather wait till later on to pick up a NT.
I'd love Collins in the third. |

Depend on some runs in other positions
If Smith goes early others may jump to get there QB,same with CB/RB. I'd love Hunt as I think we are short at DE |

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
I know we have other holes as well but I'd love Chris Faulk in the 3rd.
|
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
i really like what Reid Fragel OT Ohio St offers too. sure he is a development player but he already is one of the best blocking TE in the draft. even if he is more than a backup OT and blocking TE in the pros he has a good chance of being one of the few player that can be plugged in at RT or LT in a pinch down the road.
i agree with the hype that has driven him up the board from the 5th to the 3rd. he could be there in the fourth also but i am doubting it. even Brian Schwenke, C, California has a skill set i really like. solid pass/run blocker and has the quickness and speed to pull and get to the second level. not that it is a big area of need as most have pointed out it IMO it would be an upgrade that i can accept David Quessenberry, C/G/OT, San Jose State is a very interesting prospect also. poor mans Barrett Jones with upside another that maybe there in the fourth |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Wow, never thought he'd fall this far to us...
Hot damn, got the Tackle we needed... |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
we will see. i hope he can get ready by midseason. i see IR for LT. might need to think of another say OT/TE.
if your going with hype i guess now is the time. i had him rated lower |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Joe Kruger is worth adding to that.I still think a little more depth on DE would be good

Brandon Kaufman(Eastern Washington) 6`5 216lb would be interesting 4.45 speed to boot
Though not a classic burner, the lean and athletic Wilson is a natural pass-catcher with impressive body control and deceptive speed. Wilson needs to continue to get bigger and stronger (on tape he looks closer to 175), make his route-running a bit more precise and try to develop a bit more explosiveness. He's a naturally long-strider who is at his best running under Jeff Tuel's deep balls or using his long arms and body control to beat defenders in jump-ball situations. BUT - Makes the toughest play of the game, but lacks focus on details and plays that should be easy |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
He could well go undrafted.
Him Graham and Colston Triple towers |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
then you have this
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) Star receiver Marquess Wilson says he has quit the Washington State football team, and blamed the coaching staff for what he called abuse of players. CFB ON FOX IN 2012-13 Get the latest FOX College football news, analysis and videos right here. Wilson was suspended this week for an unspecified violation of team rules. He said in a press release Saturday that he has left the program because of the actions of first-year coach Mike Leach and his staff. Wilson said the new staff has ''preferred to belittle, intimidate and humiliate us.'' Athletic director Bill Moos said in a statement that it was unfortunate Wilson quit. Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Another interesting one
My worry would be is he a baby that does'nt like a coach getting in his face or was it true abuse |

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
Quote:
I didn't like this pick because of several reasons. First, I felt the same athleticism was available in a linebacker, and the Saints front seven has been neglected far too long; second, NFL security must have found enough concerns too make Ogletree fall past the Saints et al to the Rams with their second pick of the draft which allowed the Rams to take the risk on a rare WOW/Impact Athlete; Third, regardless of his timed 40 (all Combine/ProDay events should be in pads), with Jarvis Jones and two quality five technique Tackles still on the board, I still question the wisdom; fourth, this was a deep draft for Safeties with very little in separation of same, we could have waited till later rounds to take one or even two; Finally, we need a safety that can make interceptions and other plays and Vaccaro have very little on film to suggest this; that said Harper sucks that much with Jenkins right on his tail so if Vacarro isn't starting at FS by the close of training camp, this will be a bad start to the Ryan era - Grade: D... R2 Forfeit With Federal Legal sanctions coming again over the Vitt/Vicodin scandal, will we lose other picks? There needs to be some accountability over this; some friends that I've talk to suggest the Goodell BountyBeatdown was as much to do with the Vicodin Controversy as it was the Bounty Fiasco... R3 (75) OL Terron Armstead, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff WoW - Guess Miracles to offset mistakes really happen; Have like this kid since we started this thread; never imagined he'd fall to us in the third and it was a no brainer grabbing him; he should take over by the time training camp closes at either Tackle unless he struggles with technique or the playbook; rally excited about this pick; wanted San Jose's Quessenberry here, will gladly take a young man who took charge of his life and made an impact to get drafted; Grade - A+... R3 (82 from Miami) DT John Jenkins, University of Georgia This kid has really impressed me the way he worked very hard on his conditioning, something that will be a red flag with him for his career; he's lacked some things in his life that many of us take for granted; he's massive and he's an athlete; If he understands that his work/path has just begun, he will be a great value; Great Fit and natural Nose Tackle... That said, did we need to spend BOTH fourth round picks to get here?!? Could we not get a Third Round pick from the Jets? Like Jenkins, again disappointed in the Saints Draft Management for paying what they paid, but they got lucky with great value being there and made the move to get him; Grade - B-... R4 (106) Traded to Miami (from NY Jets) Measurables may have made LB Chase Thomas, Stanford University fall through the draft; but he's a natural pro 3-4 OLB with a high motor and excited we got him - will remind alot of folks of Scott Fujita; he will be a better OLB fit that what we have already... R4 (109) Traded to Miami The Steelers got a steal in DE Nicholas Williams, Samford University who would have been a great fit at DE in the Saints new 3-4; more on that later... R5 (144) WR Kenny Stills, Oklahoma If there's a position we've kept whiffing on, it's Wide Receiver; we get Colston in the seventh round and guess Nature is balancing things the rest of the way; like Coach Payton, I like tall Wide Receivers to gain advantages over six foot and less defensive backs; Stills has a Pro Pedigree and can run and is disciplined in his routes; but the hands are suspect and that's a big red flag; there was greater value and need and with limited picks, this was a luxury pick we didn't need to take; Grade - D... We caught a break that QB Ryan Griffin, Tulane University made it through to the Saints as an UDFA; Really hoping we can keep him on the roster and pulling for him to move past the recent FA signings and make this squad so he can develop... R6 (183) DE Rufus Johnson, Tarleton State I like real, feel-good stories and, like Jenkins, this wil be a story to watch unfold; but why are we still picking 4-3 Defensive Ends?!? Available players were FS Cody Davis, Texas Tech, FS Bacarri Rambo of Georgia, DE Joe Kruger of Utah, DL Nicholas Williams of Samford, DT Jared Smith of New Hampshire would have been much better value; the Rams got another guy I really liked as an UDFA in FS Cody Davis, Texas Tech University; the Rams got a steal here; I will be pulling for Johnson, but the Saints Draft Management really drop the ball again; Grade - C... Overall Grade > C |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
hell if we traded one of the fourth for a hand full 7ths we would have been golden
John Jenkins - i see Jonathan Sullivan in the kid. work out to get the money then back to the same old? I hope not, in the press box eating wings. His lack of excitement and ho hum attitude in his interview really did nothing to endear me to this pick either. It was kinda what i expected In the fourth my picks Jesse Williams, NT, Alabama Brian Schwenke C California one for the defense one for Drew in round 6 i have to see what this kid is all about but i really never made my mind up about the best of Fragel or Williams but i went Michael Williams TE Alabama Yet another pick for Drew I am watching the waiver wires and want see if either of these two become available. which i seriously doubt. any ho i am going to be forced to watch 4 of my defensive favs play in our division twice a year. man i hope i was wrong about them all Atlanta Trufant Carolina Short AJ Klien Tampa Banks ( watch the kid from Buffallo - Means they took in the 6th) |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
I think Jenkins last minute effort, overweight at the combine, max effort/leaner version at his ProDay was a positive sign...
But the talent that was still there in the fourth?!? Really disappointed in the Saints Draft Management... |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board
I know everything right now is opinion, but this has to be the best draft we've had in 5 years.
I just don't understand the negativity towards this draft. |

i have stopped saying anything in the other posting and will infect my gag rule again. it will be a silent time till i eat my crow. which i hope i do. maybe we should do it by private msg. it is what is and i will let it all runs its course. |
