Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Just thought of another scenario...

In a trade with Chiefs, Raiders, Cardinals, Jaguars, Jets and send our 2013 first round pick and a player (i.e. Chris Ivory) for their 2013 second round pick, 2013 third round pick and 2014 first round pick...

Would need to consult the draft chart to see the values...

It's not like we're doing great with our first rounders anyways...

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

sure you do not want to add a team or two more to that list

i would love that extra pick next year. problem is the trade of next year picks usually carry a higher price to them. so a team really really must want a player to do it. i mean really

True, but we have options in the draft and it's not likely the two first rounders I'd want (Fisher or Joeckel) will be there at 15...

You know... had Chris Faulk not gotten injured his Senior year, he easily would have been a day 2 pick at the latest. Very highly touted and lots of upside. If he were to actually take him, no doubt in my mind he'll be a good RT right off the bat that we could develop into a LT. Would make a nice pick in the mid rounds so we wouldn't have to draft a LT high... if we were not to sign one via free agency.

Papz, if he can get healthy he could start at Left Tackle Now!

Otherwise a nice scenario, but Spielman - Vikes' GM - has stated that he wants as many picks in this coming draft as he can get, and I think he said in an interview that he would want to have above 10 picks.

Therefore, I see it unlikely that they'd give up a pick to move up - there's plenty of WRs in the draft who'll be available to them where they pick.

Hadn't heard that.
Hopefully others may want to trade up.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Dion Jordan reminds me of former Dolphins DE Jason Taylor...

While he was a media darling and always had nice annual sack totals, those numbers often came in bunches (i.e. Will Smith) against lesser talent and he was never a game changer...

Further, both lacked bulk and would be a serious liability in run defense...

Jordan would be better as a 4-3 DE...

Every year we pick a wounded warrior in the draft. i think he is right up there on the short list in the fourth. There are a few nice wounded OT that are out there that may or may not be ready for 2013 but worth thinking a year on IR might just payoff big time.

Oregon LB Kiko Alonso spent extensive time with five teams, according to draft insider Tony Pauline.

Alonso had dinner with the Miami Dolphins, breakfast with the Arizona Cardinals then interviewed "extensively" with the San Diego Chargers, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Bucs, per Pauline.

2013 Saint's Draft Mock (JeanPierre)

[Updated 2013/03/16]

This is the schedule of players I'd draft based on where the team is at this point of free agency...

R1(15) Saints select LB Alec Ogletree, Georgia

R2 (45) Forfeit (OL Barrett Jones, Alabama)

R3(75) Saints select QB Tyler Wilson, Arkansas

R4(106) Saints select OT Chris Faulk, LSU

R5(137) Saints select NT TJ Barnes, Georgia Tech

R6(173) Saints select SS Cooper Taylor, Richmond

If we trade down and pick up a second round pick, our draft could look something like this; we'd would also send either a player (i.e. Ivory? Harper?) or a 2014 draft pick...

2013 Saint's Draft Mock (Trade Down Scenario)

[Updated 2013/03/12]

R2 LB Jaime Collins, Southern Miss

R3 OL Barrett Jones, Alabama

R3 QB Tyler Wilson, Arkansas

R4 OT Chris Faulk, LSU

R5 NT TJ Barnes, Georgia Tech

R6 SS Cooper Taylor, Richmond

Again (repeat) some of this could be smoke screen and some could be legitimate; but these are the guys the Saints have met with...

no way we draft a QB in the third, we have much bigger needs than a QB...

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

No kidding... There's no way in hell we draft a QB in the 3rd. Also, why would we draft an Inside Linebacker in the 1st round when we have Lofton, Hawthorne, Vilma, etc? Come on JP!

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Because we have no backup at present and a lack of talent backing up Brees is a big gamble...

Second, Drew has maybe two good years left with his surgically repaired shoulder...

Third, the value would be there and the player could start developing now...

Mmmm in a perfect world maybe, but with the holes we have?

I'm liking him more and more. Maybe he's still a tad raw, but he has two things that generally equate to a great NFL career.

Measurables and Work Ethic.

IIRC he benched 600 pounds at Bama. Uhhhh, 600 lbs? :o

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

by seasons end i came away with the impression he was soft. work out numbers are nice but i still can not shack that impression. maybe he played up to his level of competition is a better way of looking at. that would also sour me on him. like a few LSU players i will not mention in fear the homers will hang me lol

I am really not liking this spot in the daft. over hyped players driven up the board because of the weakness of the draft in round 1 as a whole. reaching for players that are safer bets because you a good idea of what you are getting.

Just curious...
What medical degree do you have to make that type of statment?

It really annoys me how people comment on how many years the guy has left with his arm and what not...
His arm is solid and I will believe that until his perfomance shows otherwise

Actually been getting called out lately to office; so I read/type while waiting on customers...

Why the Rams make sense is this - they may have signed Long, but they need a Offensive Line Help (Warmack, Lane Johnson) a Safety (Vaccaro), Wide Receiver (Keenan Allen, Justin Hunter)...

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

i am still thinking Cinci they are close and could be hungry enough to jump the rams.

rams and cinci have pretty much the same targets in round 1

bengals get rd1 15 - 75
Saints get 21 - 53

vikes jump Rams

23 add rd 4 102 (ok a bit high but you should be able sell it)

Saints get 23 53 102 (catch we loss 75)

Try a dream trade with the vikes. both #1 and we kick in our fourth.

then trade out of 1 with one of those picks. once again needs list are pretty much the same as the rams.

Saints 21 and 23
Vikes 15 and 102

now you need a trade back into round 1

i could see miami trading back into the first also. they are loaded with picks. almost as many as SF. Why? their team needs match up with alot of teams picking behind us

pick 42 54 82

Never happen one of those will roll over the 2013 draft if this pipe dream ever to place
23
42
54
82
109
144
183

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Vikes won't take that deal - they're targeting at least one WR in the 1st and probably a DT with the other.
