Are we waiting the Browns out to release Colt McCoy?

The issue could be money as I'm sure he will want to be paid.
Didnt he work with Ryan at the patriots?

Ryan was the Linebackers coach from 2000-03; Seymour is a defensive lineman...

Ryan was also the Defensive Coordinator for the Raiders from 2004-08; In 2008, Richard Seymour contested his trade to the Raiders from the Patriots, but eventually reported...

Jammer's new. I like the name, the fact that he's from SD and he had a pretty good year looking at the stats. Why'd you take McKinnie off the list?

Quentin Jammer plays a similar style/scheme to Nnamdi - more of one on one, press coverage on the receiver assigned; Scouts inc assigned him a grade score comparable to Nnamdi; and there isn't that much of an age difference; and Jammer has been durable in his career...

The more I read about McKinnie, the more cautious I feel when reading repetitive comments/opinions about his personal/professional responsibility in failing to keep himself in shape; plus, he just won a Superbowl - will he be motivated to "Sacrifice" for the team to win another one with us?!?

Gaither or Max Starks would be a better fit here in New Orleans...

Jammer had a down year in 2011 which was attributed to him going through a divorce; he rebounded nicely this season. And a divorcee will tell you that a change of scenery will do wonders; should Jammer come in and play solid, the Love from Saints Fans will make him feel like All-Gold...

The San Francisco 49ers have bolstered their secondary by signing veteran cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to a one-year contract. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com broke the news:

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

Raiders to place LB Rolando McClain on waivers

The Rolando McClain era with the Oakland Raiders has come to an end as ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the club will place the 2010 first-round pick on waivers. Running back Darren McFadden is now the only Oakland first-round pick since 2000 still on the team's roster. That year, Oakland selected kicker Sebastian Janikowski with the 17th overall pick.

McClain should have no problem clearing waivers. The 23-year-old has two seasons and $10.31 million remaining on his five-year, $40.25 million rookie contract and is scheduled to earn $4.255 million in total cash compensation 2013 and another $6.055 million in 2014.

According to a source with knowledge of McClain's rookie contract, $3.635 million of the $10.31 million that remains on the contract is fully guaranteed with no offset language. Any team that willingly acquires McClain's contract, also acquires the $3.635 million in fully guaranteed base salary..

ILB/OLB head case might be i am not sure what.

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

Kevin, Rolando McClain definitely intrigues, especially added to the talent level we are accruing at Linebacker (not going to do a Flashback)...

But, what kind of baggage does he have if the RAIDERS of all teams are cutting him loose?!?

Plus, there is former Saints Coach, now Raiders Head Coach, Dennis Allen signing off on the move to release him - so how likely are his former Saints coworkers going to geaux after McClain?!?

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

My initial thought about McCalin is a stern no, but I guess Ryan would know if he actually could be a good addition.

I seem to remember that he has had his share of off the field problems along with not really living up to his draft status on the field.

Probably not someone who would add anything worthwhile to the roster.

But something could be fishy on Gaither's end after being cut just one year after receiving a four-year, $24.6 million contract before the 2012 season.

Tackle Max Starks (6-8, 345) - You're starting to see a theme here with tackles as it's the primary position the Saints want to target at this point in free agency. The 31-year-old Starks doesn't appear to be re-signing with Pittsburgh...

...Defensive lineman Richard Seymour (6-6, 317) - The 33-year-old has been successful in 4-3 and 3-4 defensive scheme. So versatility isn't an issue for Seymour. The Raiders cut ties with Seymour thanks to a hefty salary. Would the Saints like to have him? Probably so. It comes back to the cost....

He also mentions Freeney and Abraham who would be terribull fits in the 3-4 front being installed...

Gaither looked horrible in some of the games I saw him play last season, and he was abused by a lot of DEs even with help given to him - health concerns to boot doesn't really make him all that attractive.

Understand concerns about Gaither, that's why in an earlier post I recommended an incentive-based contract or (no play/no pay)...

I think Max Starks is serviceable and still has enough of an athlete he can help in our wheel pass plays and screen plays...

Joker 04-06-2013 08:34 PM

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

Guys, I understand the concern over the LT position, Charles Brown will be given the opportunity to see if can handle the job. IMO the Ben Watson signing is bigger than what every one thinks. IMO Watson was signed not only to help block if necessary but adds an additional threat on offense. With a little over 2 Million of cap room left and the draft right around the corner I don't except them to sign anyone. After the draft is over they may kick the tires on Gaither, McKinnie, and Cabo as long as it doesnt cost a lot of money, like league minimum.
IMO free agency is over until after the draft unless Mickey Lookis can work a miracle, which is possible but not likely.

That's reportedly exactly the reason why the Steelers wanted to move forward without Starks - I mean the fact that the Steelers are moving towards an offensive plan with more screen plays and Starks not being a fit to that.

Starks isn't in his prime, but economics played as much of a part in his release than anything...

Now, WTF are we signing a 5-8 safety?!?

Michael Huff was available and affordable (yeah, we would have had to let Harper geaux, oh boy!?!) and we sign a nice guy on the back end of his career?!?

Are we the Black and Gold or are we the Black and Silver?!?

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

Leonhard is only 4 months older than Huff, so if one is "silver" the other one would've been "silver" as well.

Granted I would've taken Huff miles before Leonhard, but this was a depth move and signing Huff would've been to replace one of the starting safeties.

There are very few positions on either side of the ball where the Saints could use an upgrade, "need" on the other hand is always relative.
