OK, it's understandable that you would think that, but my handle doesn't refer to me being a Dolphins' fan but to my nationality. I guess it would've made more sense to make the handle FinnSaint as Finnish people are referred to as Finns, but I was only thinking about the national code which is FIN when I hastily created the handle. So, sorry about the mix up! :-) |

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Jarius Byrd would be an incredible signing
Imagine addressing OLB and DE in the draft and landing this ball hawk as our free agent signing, it would be amazing |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
I hope they try to pick him up because this guy is a real safety! |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
I'd be over the moon with DLP, Byrd, and Smith (but with a relatively short contract).

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Bills have two must keep FA and they are:
BYRD and LEVITRE one will get signed one will get tagged. so i am not teasing myself here |

i am trying to stay positive bud but everything hinges on LT this year
|
I agree with that
I don't want us to have to reach for a LT. How much would it cost to tag Bushrod for a year if need be? If all else fails maybe tag him and push the boat out and trade up on Mathews next year. |

Not really an option since the franchise tag for a non-exclusive OT is somewhere around $11M... only QBs have a higher tag than O-linemen. There's absolutely no way the Saints can afford to tag Bushrod with the cap restrictions they are facing nor should they to be completely honest about it. |
Fair enough.
Maybe get in a serviceable vet for a year if no deal can be done. Either that or trade back and hope to pick up a 2nd round pick and a late first round tackle. |

Are they good enough?
My knowledge of football is getting there but without ever having played the game what to look for in lineman is a way off yet.Brown seemed to hold up well from what I saw of him. |

Same thing with Marcell Jones. He looked good while he was in at RT, but then got hurt...IR'd. |
Well lets hope they are up to the job.
I would mind getting a LT if it was Fisher or Mathews next year who sound great by all reports. But the the defence needing a number of players with little cap space having to reach for a tackle could be a disaster. Having said that not keeping Drew upright would be a disaster too. |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Charles Brown was a candidate to become a starting LT in the NFL from the 2010 draft. He was touted as having really good foot work and being an all-around good athlete. His major weaknesses were (are?) that he was far too light-weight in his stature and he needed to work on this overall strength, and because of these weaknesses he had the tendency of being pushed around by stronger D-linemen. Now, Brown was 290 lbs when he entered the draft, and he is listed as 297 lbs at the moment, so he hasn't really worked on his major weakness, but it might be because he has been injured so often that he hasn't been able to put on the weight required to battle starting caliber D-linemen. And that's another thing, he seems to be very susceptible to injuries or he has had very bad luck when it comes to his health - either way, those injuries have definitely affected his development, and I would only consider him a depth guy (at best) at the moment. Funny thing is that he went to USC as a TE, but was moved to OT rather quickly, and ended up starting as the LT for the last two years of his college career, and maybe that is why he has always seemed a little light-weight for an OT?!
Marcel Jones, on the other hand, could be the future RT for the Saints, and Mike Mayock had some nice things to say about Jones at last year's draft. But he needed coaching to become a NFL starter, and having been injured and out of line-up for practically his whole rookie season, I don't think he is at the point where we could really expect him to take over at the RT, let alone at the LT position. So, next year's starting LT has to come either from the FA pool (including Bushrod) or the draft... or via a trade. |

Charles Brown?!? more like Charlie Brown...

Ravens defensive free agents will be exposed as the Ravens front office will be committed to Joe Flacco; we've been there before...

I do understand why Flacco would be asking for that type of money, and I do understand why the Ravens would want to re-sign him, especially now after they won the SB with Flacco. But, if they are going to give Flacco the type of contract New Orleans just gave Drew Brees - I have severely overestimated how good of a GM Ozzie Newsome really is. Although, them having to overpay Flacco would mean that they couldn't keep hold on to some of their players, which could be a good thing as far as the Saints are concerned. |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Its a starting point for Flacco imo,he will re-sign for 15ml for so

Didn't know that,interesting.
I'd franchise him and try to trade him or let him walk.Good but not elite. |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
With a WR group of Boldin and Torrey Smith, and at TE Pitta, the guys has virtually nothing receiver wise to deal with. They have an elite RB, but I don't think any WR/TE on their roster starts on the Saints. Maybe Boldin.
In fact, did anyone in the playoffs have a worse WR/TE group? |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
I thought Pitta was a pretty decent TE?

Paul Kruger
Ed Reed Danelle Ellerbe Corey Williams Bryant Mckinnie These are just a couple of the Ravens players that are now unrestricted free agents. So by all means i hope that Ravens pay Flacco every single penny that he wants. Could you imagine us getting Ed Reed and having him come in and put on a Darren Sharper-esque for our secondary We will be shedding some fat from our defense from players whom services are no longer needed. So hopefully Mickey Loomis is keeping an eye on this situation |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
opps back to the money issue bit any who, throwing this out again
Jags: CB Derek Cox 49ers: TE Delanie Walker 49ers: NT Isaac Sopoaga |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
I'd like to see Derek Cox in black & gold next season.
A 6'1" 200 lbs. corner, just what we need! We have to get bigger and more physical in the secondary... |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
