i want a new house new car and a new boat. it aint going to happen for unless i do something extreme. same for the saints. champagne taste on red white and blue beer budget.
it would nice |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Jean-Francois would be an intriguing additions since he could probably line up as both the NT and the other DE depending on the personnel package.

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
DL Ricky Jean-Francois is set to visit the #Eagles, likely tomorrow. If there is no deal, he'll visit the #Colts. |

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
If we could bring in one Safety like Huff or Phillips, Jenkins can be moved to one corner opposite Jabari Greer with White in the slot as the nickel back...
|
Does Richard Seymour still have anything left.Cut by the raiders was at the Patriots the same time as Ryan.
Short contract, offering experience and can help Jordan and Hicks. |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Richard Seymour as a full time starter? i do not think so. rotational player and player coach? heck yeah.

3/13/2013 8:12 AM If the New Orleans Saints wanted to chat with freshly released Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield, the veteran defensive back would be interested, according to Winfield's agent Ashanti Webb. "Could be a good fit," Webb said. Winfield tallied 100 total tackles last season, along with three interceptions and 12 pass defenses. Winfield, 35, would be a Darren Sharper-type signing as Winfield just wrapped up his 14th year in the NFL and the Vikings released him as he was due $7.25 million in 2013. |
@RavensInsider: Saints agree to terms with Justin Drescher on four-year contract, per a league source

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Winfield is probably the best tackling CB out there and I've loved watching him play for the Vikes all of these past years, but he has seen his lot of injuries during the past couple of seasons and he hasn't been able to bounce back from them as fast as he once did.
Still, at a bargain rate he would definitely bring a much needed attitude to the secondary with his superior tackling skills and determination. |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
if he can SOLIDLY tackle, he surely won't be signed. our defense is built purely on the "dive at the shoelaces and hope" ... c'mon man, whatcha thinkin' there?

Granted, he was amazing the past few years, but I doubt he's got anything left in the tank... I'd rather sign more natural safeties and move Jenkins to cornerback opposite Greer... |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Not sure how good he is,but is he worth trading for?
Low cost,if he plays well get him a long term deal,if not he leaves and we go after a top LT in next years draft. Report: Saffold “likely” to ask for trade if Rams sign Jake Long Posted by Josh Alper on March 13, 2013, 1:29 PM EDT Billy Bajema, Rodger Saffold AP If the Rams sign tackle Jake Long on Wednesday, it will take one left tackle off the market. It might also lead to another one coming back onto the market. Bob Glauber of Newsday reports that current Rams left tackle Rodger Saffold would “likely” ask for a trade if the Rams and Long come to an agreement. Saffold’s rationale is easy to understand. He’s set to become a free agent after next season and left tackles are generally paid more handsomely than their offensive line brethren. Whether Saffold was moved to right tackle or guard, something that was bandied about last season, he’d lose a potential chance to cash in as a free agent. But there’s a reason why the Rams are in the market for Long’s services and it isn’t that Saffold was so great at left tackle that the Rams couldn’t pass on a chance to see how he played other positions. Without other moves, it would also be hard to see them deciding to trade Saffold without an overwhelmingly tempting return. He’s making $880,000 in 2013 and the Rams would be a better overall line with Long at left tackle and Saffold at another post on the line. Saffold could make things difficult, but he has very little leverage to force a trade. |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
I wonder if Ryan will want him?
Knows system, would add depth Cowboys to part ways with Marcus Spears Posted by Darin Gantt on March 13, 2013, 5:33 PM EDT Jason Hatcher, Marcus Spears AP One of the strange parts of this offseason has been watching the Cowboys and Redskins watch from the sidelines, because of the salary cap penalties the league dropped on them. Now, the Cowboys have dropped one of their own for a little room. According to Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com, the Cowboys have decided to release defensive end Marcus Spears. The former first-rounder will be designated a post-June 1 cut, allowing them to spread the cap hit out. He clears around $2 million in room this year, though they don’t get credit for it until the summer. Realistically, that’s part of the cap room they’ll need to sign draft picks. Spears was also vaguely extraneous with the Cowboys move to a 4-3, as he’s a natural defensive end in a 3-4. |

Hmmm... interesting. He's a big boy (6-4, 315), still has some years left in the tank being "only" 30, and he's a graduate of LSU and he went to HS in Baton Rouge. I wonder if he'd be willing to sign with the Saints for a discount?! |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
It's being said the cowpies are making a play at Urlacher. He won't come cheap. We may see a couple more of Jerry's kids become available in the near future as well.

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
I like Brian but he is getting a bit long in the tooth. i would rather a major youth movement with a few well priced vets sprinkled into the mix.

Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Titans sign DT Sammie Lee Hill (3 years, $11.4M; $4M guaranteed)
actual not as bad as i thought a bit less money than Jr and IMO less of a gamble Buccaneers sign S Dashon Goldson (5 years, $41.25M; $22M guaranteed) that just insane then again good luck collecting that 5th year Chargers sign CB Derek Cox (4 years, $20M; $10.25M guaranteed) Not bad a bit high IMO but not bad. at least we have a ball park set for CB |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
Winfield would be a 1 year (2 tops) stop-gap player that would give us some more flexibility come the draft.

RJ-F at the same price as what the Titans gave Sammie Lee Hill would be absolutely awesome. I'm kind of glad Cox signed with the Chargers, because I do think $5M/yr would've been too big of a gamble with his history with injuries, and the shortage of cap space the Saints have at the moment. |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

I think that De la Puente signed the 1-year tender - at least Spotrac has an update of him having signed the 1-yr $2.02M tender on March 9th. NFL - New Orleans Saints Transactions I would love to add RJ-F and Connor Barwin to the Saints' roster! |
With the Pats signing Amendola,i dont see them offering much to Edelman.
|
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets

With Welker going to Denver they could sign Edelman as an affordable multitasking player - then again they still need to sign Woodhead to a new contract, which could take away a good chunk of their cap space. |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
New free agent subject.... EJ Biggers from Tampa discuss!!!!
I like him, plus he's only 25 took over for Talib after he bolted for New England best football is ahead of him!!! |
Re: 2013 Saints - Free Agency Targets
I know I'm kinda off topic here....
but you know a guy I wish we had enough to trade for because he deserves better.... Larry Fitzgerald.....I just saw that the cut Kolb...and still don't...and won't have a decent QB because they don't plan on drafting one in the 1st round. Fitzgerald still is a beast....the guy still is a beast even with the lame ducks he gets thrown by horrible QBs. Just imagine if we could get him. You know how dangerous we could be with Fitz, Colston, Moore and Morgan? |

The potential signing of Talib was discussed in depth here like a month ago, and people were mostly positive about the prospect - some thought that SP would be exactly the right type of HC to keep him out of trouble. Personally, I'd rather have either Asomugha or Lewis. |
