With respect to Lorig, I get what your saying Fin, but how they figured his game would translate from the Bucs offense to our offense is where I'd have questions and what the team's thoughts were...

Yep, and Tampa fans weren't happy about losing him. He just didn't work out here.

Like you said, on paper, it looked like a really good move. He had Dave Thomas upside.

The Miami Herald believes the Dolphins should release Jordan Cameron.

Cameron is due a non-guaranteed $7.5 million. Releasing him could be the only option if he doesn’t accept a pay cut. Cameron had just a 35/386/3 line his first season in Miami

For the Browns to let him walk despite his popularity with a hostile fan-base; and now possibly being released by Miami - that just creates more questions than answers...

...especially with limited cap space...

Okay, if we could swing two of the top three in this list and add #4 or #5, we'd be set going into the draft and poised for more of an impact on defense......

(1) NT Damon Harrison (NYJ)

(2) DE Malick Jackson (DEN)

(3) LB Danny Trevathan (DEN)

(4) RG J.R. Sweezy (SEA)*

(5) TE Ben Watson (NO)

The major hurdle to signing those Denver players is that Chicago has their former head coach and over $50 million in cap space. Plus, Chicago has lots of needs on defense. I don't know if they liked playing for John Fox but it seems like an obvious destination if Denver can't retain them.

Immediate upgrade. Not sure what dollars he will command but you win with NT's like this guy in the trenches.

Late round pick for Josh Gordon. Give him incentive based contract. Worth the risk.

I'd snatch him & wouldn't look back. Take it a step further ... maybe a conditional pick? This is a game changing WR with speed and size.

This young stud is a BEAST.

Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency

Brees better restructure.

We've already cut a few including Evans and Hawthorne.

I would like to get these guys:

Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, Giants

Muhammad Wilkerson, DE, Jets

Tamba Hali, OLB, Chiefs

but I would not overpay for any of them.

I would keep these guys at cut rates only:

Browner, Byrd, Spiller, Cadet, Wilson and Flynn

I would let all Free agents go otherwise. We need a backup for Brees. I would sign Ostweiler or get a QB high in the draft maybe at 12 to replace him in the next 2 years.

I might resign Watson as a backup along with Michael Hoomanawanui but both would take big pay cuts and we would need a better than average Tight End in Free Agency to take as over number one.

Akiem Hicks is listed as New England's top free agent???

NT Damon Harrison - most under rated NT in the NFL buy still the cost?
DT Nick Fairley - he has kept his nose
CB Casey Hayward - always loved this kids game

realstic?

WLB Tahir Whitehead
WLB Nigel Bradham - pondering this one. his production was down last year
WLB Sean Weatherspoon - veteran minimum?
SS Isa Abdul-Quddus

TE Coby Fleener or Dwayne Allen
OG/OC Stefen Wisniewski

Clog up that middle and things get better off the edge. I'm really hoping the Saints front office is looking hard at this guy.

True... I forgot about that. Hopefully his recovery is going well and he'll be able to be the player he was pre-injury.

I'd also love to bring back Glenn Foster. I don't know why we cut the cord so quickly on him either.

Thoughts?

Believe the front office plan is (a) re-sign Dannell Ellerbe (done); and (b) draft a WLB (My Mock has us taking Wisconsin's Schobel) to learn/backup until he overtakes Ellerbe...

With limited cap space and in need of starters on the defensive line and offensive guards, just don't see us signing another WLBer...

#3 offense in the NFL is huge.
knowing the saints will be cap rich in 2017 helps a ton too

all i can see is young player hungry and wanting a shot to start signing a short term contract with insensitive. The saints are in a good spot to appeal to defensive players like this. The defense is wide open especially at WLB.

That is why I keep looking at
Tahir Whitehead LB - Detroit Lions
Mark Barron, LB - Los Angeles Rams

Or wise old vets that are not done yet
Robert Ayers, DE - New York Giants signed a 2/$3,750,000.

OG has opens available
Mike Harris, G - Minnesota Vikings
Is interesting. bounced inside to OG after most being a not so good at OT. years 2 at OG could be ?????

Brandon Boykin, CB - Pittsburgh Steelers for the slot???

Patrick Robinson, CB - San Diego Chargers? nah too much

Mark is a very intriguing guy who filled in quite nicely for Olgetree (injured) on that weak side. Also noticed him in the "safety in the box" type role.

Big hitter too.

This is awesome! Combine this with the impending releases of Colston and Browner and we're gonna have about $12 million in cap space. That's before you factor in the eventual Brees extension and Morestead restructure. Plenty of money to give Armstead a well-deserved extension and sign a tier 1 free agent or two!

Yes, but go back in the thread and look at the cap room some of these teams have...

There's going to be alot of overpaid (context being NFL Salary Cap) players this Free Agency Market...

We'll have to make the hard sell that we're closer to competing than the others...
