Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Y'all do realize free agency is far from over, right?
|
Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
you're right Mitch always time enough to add a few more pieces to the offense it's still real early for that in Mickey and Sean land
|
Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
It never ends just come game 1, you're most likely scrapping the bottom of the barrel
|
Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Y'all got me agreeing with Mitch today. Calm down. This is only the beginning of the offseason. Let it play out some more.
|
Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
don't get me wrong I agree it's too early what is setting up to be the same old crap year in and year out.I want sacks.I want turnovers.I want to defense I can get off the field on 3rd down.call me crazy but I'll settle for a 13 to 10 score.I don't have to always watch a game that is 50 - 45..

I say we need more players but to tell you the truth I think it might be coaching.will you do the same thing when we hire a new coordinator we never allow him to bring in his own coaches.he is always forced to deal with the same retread that been there since Peyton has been there.what's the definition of insanity.doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results

The reality is we are looking at D players at this point. Or we can hope to get lucky and land someone that is hungry to revitalize their career, but those type of players are very hard to find. FA this year looks like a loss right now, but is that a bad thing? Over the last two years we were big spenders and it only hurt us in the end. |
Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Since the 1994 49ers, has anyone won free agency and the Superbowl in the same season?

Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Overpaying early in free agency is where teams get in trouble. Giants will be regretting that Olivier contract and the Jags will be regretting the Jackson contract the same way we are the Byrd one. We overpaid for Fleener (I like the player and not the contract) because it's early free agency and if you target a guy you have lots of competition. Give it a week or two when the big money is all used up and there will be some more team friendly prices to be paid on still decent free agents.

Cowboys signed Cedric Thornton. 4 years 18mil. Nice deal.
LB Keenan Robinson to the Giants. Damn. Underrated linebacker. |

Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Ok lets talk cheap solid additions to the bench that are now reaching end of that learning curve and look ready to challenge for serious playing time in the NFL.
Rambo played a considerable amount at safety last season, and really came into his own over the final eight weeks or so. Powell suffered a torn ACL in training camp, but was often pointed to as a great depth player, and a contributor on special teams -- and with such a weak depth chart at inside linebacker, he is a compelling choice. And Charles is a young player that flashes big ability at times, but may be better suited for a 4-3 defense than the 3-4 scheme they run in Buffalo. http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/bil...ee-rfas-by-4pm Bacarri Rambo SS/FS Talk about a much needed upgrade to the depth chart, special teams and actually has the ability to put in very productive time in a rotation. He appears to be ready to make that serious push to becoming a starter in the NFL. strike now he might be the best FS/SS prospect on the market for the price. why was he not drafted on day 2 and lasted till the 6th? multiple suspensions for violating team rules. He was one of my favorite bad boys in 2013 and he has done nothing but fly straight since arriving in the NFL. Getting better each and every year Bacarri Rambo Draft Profile Bacarri Rambo, SS for the Buffalo Bills at NFL.com ILB/OLB Ty Powell who is coming of an ACL suffered in the preseason last year. Athletic small school prospect. special teams upgrade day 1. There is signs he can be part of an active rotation also. Two more years out probably till you good idea what of exactly what he can contribute. http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/bil...ee-rfas-by-4pm Ty Powell Draft Profile What does this team needs on defense? A talent upgrades across the board that not only improves the rotation but will impact the very bad special teams play we have seen over the past few years. These are the type of signing I was expecting. The Saints depth chart is a joke and there is little or no prospects that really have a chance of pushing the starters. these type of signing are like having multiple 4th rounds picks knowing they will be solid additions and will be productive. DT Stefan Charles was already grabbed up by the lions our he would be on this also. |
Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
how about a WR that is not a #1 but you would be hard-pressed to do better for a #3/4 than
Anquan Boldin, WR, San Francisco 49ers? How about another miss cast that had a down year. Might be cheap after failing as a NT in a 34 and a short term prove it contract might be an option. Returning to a 4-3 like the one he played in in Denver might be just what the dr ordered. Terrance Knighton, DT, Washington Redskins Casey Hayward? still out there |
Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Knighton for the right price would be a good interior run stuffer.

Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Brent Grimes signs 2-year, $16.5 million deal with Buccaneers, per report - SBNation.com
That is ridiculous money for a guy waaay past his prime. |

The Bucs sure inherited some baggage:

What are everyone's thoughts on Amukamura from the Giants? If he isn't high priced he has some talent. Good character guy from what I have heard but durability concerns. We have those already in the secondary so can never have enough bodies.

Zach Brown - LB Titans ... still available.
FAST, instinctive and excels in pass coverage. Put him at the WILB, alongside Stephone at the MIKE and we are in business. He played well last season vs the Saints. Probably wouldn't break the bank either. That could be a "fit" in New Orleans. |
Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Does anyone think that Roddy White could be a number 5 or 6 for us for just one season? A great locker room presence, would come cheap and has a little left in the tank IMO.

I'd rather see a promising draft pick or UDRFA not have his time limited by a veteran with a small career window remaining... Now, there's another thing here that concerns me... This chatter about bringing on FA Laurinaitis to 'quarterback the defense'... Where and who is this 'quarterback the defense' idea originating?!? Is there no confidence in Stephone Anthony in that role?!? Would Anthony be moved outside if Laurinaitis is signed?!? |
Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Hoping to hear some news this weekend since our coaches should be back home in NOLA after their pro day's road trip to Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State. Hopefully a player or two comes in for a visit.

And I was catching **** for wanting to draft two safeties?!?
Don't get me wrong, the line(s) are the biggest (or smallest) issue we're facing... But our midfielders have been awful with regards to allowing big plays and not forcing enough turnovers... |
Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
How about 6'4" 330 lbs DT Jesse Williams former Seahawk?
