Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Jamarca Sanford is a solid resigning.
Nick Fairley has a bit of a history but the last few years have been calm so it would appear he has grown up. safe FA in that his history should keep the contract reasonable and flexible. Insensitive could be key. Hey our punter is a bit of an issue but his contract is such the saints have all the power in redoing it. very dead friendly. |

CB Brandon Boykin is still out there and keeps getting cheaper by the day. Slot coverage was a huge issue last year.

This aproach is way too stupid and irresponsible. Last offseason Lelito was one "option" , then he became "the solution". We all know how that worked out... Ask Drew. |

Josh Hill's Bears Offer Sheet Matched by Saints: Latest Comments, Reaction
By Daniel Kramer , Featured Columnist The New Orleans Saints announced on March 25 they have matched the offer sheet from the Chicago Bears for restricted free agent Josh Hill and will retain the veteran tight end. Hill signed a three-year, $7.5 million deal with the Bears on March 22, per Jeff Dickerson of ESPN. The Saints had five days to match the offer and did so. The Bears' offer included $3.25 million guaranteed, per Dickerson. Hill also met with the New York Jets, per James Parks of 247Sports. However, on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the three-year deal is worth $7.1 million and can max out a $8.15 million in incentives. On Wednesday, Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate noted Hill's deal has a no-trade clause... ESPN.com: Picking the worst-ever free-agent signing for all 32 NFL teams
http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=...ansparent=trueNew Orleans Saints Wide receiver Albert Connell Though I considered a few cornerbacks (Dale Carter, Jason David and Brandon Browner), Connell wins out because of the bizarre way his career ended in New Orleans -- and in the NFL, for that matter. The Saints signed him to a five-year, $14 million contract in 2001, with a $2.5 million signing bonus. But he caught only 12 passes in 11 games before he was caught on camera stealing a total of $4,363 from teammate Deuce McAllister's car and locker. Connell claimed it was a prank and that the story was blown out of proportion, and McAllister declined to press charges. Still, it was enough for the team to suspend Connell and eventually release him after one year. -- Mike Triplett From Wikipedia: Front office Owner – Tom Benson General Manager of Football Operations – Randy Mueller Assistant General Manager of Football Operations – Charles Bailey Director of Football Administration – Mickey Loomis Director of Player Personnel – Rick Mueller College Scouting Coordinator – Rick Thompson Head Coach – Jim Haslett Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_N..._Saints_season |

There were three people who's name I emphasized with bold as they were the three people mostly responsible for signing him... Regarding Loomis, he has first hand experience in how bad a signing can go (e.g. later Junior Galette) so he should know to be extra vigilant... |

ESPN hands New Orleans Saints third-worst free agency grade
The Saints need to upgrade their defense, but their big-ticket purchase was for a receiving tight end in Fleener. Coach Sean Payton said the team simply wanted to add another quality player, which was fine, but the Saints remain a flawed team with burdensome salary-cap limitations. “I do not have a lot of confidence in anything these guys do,” Riddick said. “Coby will be Jimmy Graham lite, but beyond that, what did they do?” Dominik said some of the Saints’ moves could become addition by subtraction depending upon how New Orleans fills holes in the draft. “They are constantly redoing deals and Brees could be the one they redo to create a ton of space,” Yates said. “If the Saints were to spend big for something this offseason, I never would have guessed it would have been on Coby Fleener. It feels like the Saints are going about this one year at a time from a cap standpoint. They have also lost veteran leadership.” |
