Titans make sense for Clowney. Potential playoff team plus $15 MM to spend.

And the Vrabel connection from Houston. I’m almost certain he’s a Titan

Also, the $175 million cap figure is the floor with no fans in the seats. It is likely to be closer to $190 million.

When this tweet was first posted one of the Saints reporters, think it may have been Underhill, replied something along the lines of "you obviously don't know Loomis." LOL!

According to my friend New Orleans is where he wants to be it’s just a numbers game now.

Re: 2020 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

Something else to consider concerning the cap. You can kill two birds with one stone by restructuring/extending players you want to keep for the long term while managing in what years those numbers will have the greatest impact on the cap. The same can be done with straight extensions. Player X's biggest cap years could be two and four and Player Y's could be three and five. Roster bonuses in those future years also give more flexibility.

If we do indeed free up the 2020 cap to pick up Clowney I would imagine Loomis would address future cap in those restructures at the same time.

They may have his numbers worked out already. They may now be working with some of our veteran players to restructure for that space.

Sure is a lot of f*cking work and drama to try and sign a free agent (Clowney) who didn't want to go through training (*not training) camp, sometimes you just need to #walkaway...

Rankins

The guy who runs back in coverage, flip tackles to keep him off the ground and strips a Steeler receiver for a fumble that ended a critical game for home field in 2018.

That also destroyed the Steeler's playoff hopes.

no way - keep him here
he has been very loyal and a great player

Not really. There's a long line of quality free agents just beyond the trash heap of free agents.

Besides, we've drafted so well lately I'm not mad about Brandon Browner anymore

I am still pissed about our world beater ball hawk Jameris Byrd

Yeah, but at least those 2 didn't cost big money.

I guess, but the Saints paid Spiller 9$M for 13 games that he suited up for in which he ran for 112 yards.

They paid Browner 7$M to be the statistically worst CB in the 2015 season.

Not really stellar signings nor inexpensive.

Nor do either matter any longer. Let's bring home Lombardi Deux!

Besides the point, also you don't have to comment on every single discussion. No offense.

Yeah, I get you, but dismissing a conversation without adding anything to it isn't polite no matter how much you love the Saints.

I love to converse when it has to do with the Saints, Fin. I can't help it. It's an infliction.

Yes, Virginia, when it comes to the Saints, I have been to the rodeo a few times and you know it when you see it...

And then McCoy gets injured and is out for the season with the Cowboys. Karma.

He'll get more money there but he won't get a ring there. Here was his best option. If he wants to chase the money good for him but I believe that it is short term thinking.

Anybody else see this story that we tried to pull off a sign and trade to get Clowney? Reportedly we had a deal worked out with the Browns for them to sign Clowney and trade him to us for Sheldon Rankins and a 2nd round pick. That would have been infuriating.

I didn’t hear the trade deal for rankins but we tried to save cash by doing it. And like the man said u can’t trade cash. So meathead goodell killed it

I'm glad it didn't go through, Payton was willing to part with a 2nd round pick and 10M for this overrated player? Questionable decision making to say the least.

Yes. He was signed by the Cowboys and blew out his quad in August. Gone for the season.
