He'd be about the best backup QB you could ask for. Potentially great in spurts, not ready to handle a full season.

Even though Arians is supposedly the "QB Whisperer", I admit I'm intrigued what SP could do with him.

See, my take is the complete opposite; Winston's numbers are in garbage time, once he's thrown the game away, when there's no mental pressure; he lacks mental toughness; just don't see the reward...

A backup is a guy who can, at the least, come in a short period, don't make mistakes, and keep the offense moving; that's what Bridgewater gave us - that and we're getting a compensatory third round pick back...

And then there's the issue that Payton has already declared Taysom the No. 2 now; so why tie up money in Winston when we can possibly address other positions (i.e. RB, CB) or even start extending people now?

I think it's strictly a maturity thing. He proved he has mental toughness in leading FSU to a national championship in the final 90 seconds of the game. He also took home the MVP.

He's also proven his inability to lead men. He can possibly grow into that (I've seen it happen) so that's why I'm intrigued by him - AS a #3 QB.

And we all know that while Taysom is technically the #2 QB on roster, his value is all over the field and therefore subject to the wear and tear a typical backup isn't.

So I'd like to have another arm.

There’s some conflicting info that because Malcolm Jenkins was released he doesn’t count against the comp pick formula.

I'd definitely agree with ya right 'dere...

Keep an eye on FIU's James Morgan and on San Jose St Josh Love (not Jordan)...

Speaking of QB's .... veteran QB's.

Keep a lazy eye on these names as a possible "back up" to #9 in 2020 ...

Andy Dalton
Jacoby Brissette
Cam Newton
Jameis Winston

I'd like to have another arm too. Preferably not one that's attached to finger licking good fingers.

I appreciate your views but I just don't see any saving grace for him. Personally, I don't believe he has the smarts to be an NFL QB.

He’s actually extremely intelligent when it comes to football. He’s just shown a propensity to make poor decisions off the field and it reflects in his on field play. Like bruh said, it’s a maturity issue.

Dennard back on the market. Slot CB.

I’m not going to pretend that I’ve paid any attention to Dennard over the years, but we need all the DB depth we can get.

Guess more teams are wising up to Jadeveon Clowney's inability to be available against physical opponents; still, it's amazing someone hasn't signed him...

Know the Redskins are lined up for Chase Young and have good edge rushers already, but usually it's someone like them or the Raiders that have made this signing...

I believe that play in college where he "blew up" that QB hurt him as much as helped him. People expect a "blow up" on every rush.

Lol not in any way interested in signing Brandin Cooks, but thought this was funny;

Proves the guy is a serial whiner when he doesnt get his own way.

I hope the Saints take a flyer on a mid/lower tier FA linebacker. AJ Klein left a void at a position of need. FWIW, I'd call Clay Matthews.

Maybe coaches are confident in Ellis, Anzalone :couch:

Meanwhile Cash money Clowney is still out there in FA land and so is E Griffen.

Forgot Griffin took a year away to improve his mental health. They may be a player only the Vikings know how to handle....

Definitely need a LBer. I'm ready for a youth movement though. Maybe Marcus Golden could play LB but otherwise not many FAs out there..

Yeah, Payton gets lazy with using the veteran-heavy roster. Belichick and Patriots paid key, skilled, mature, veterans, the rest they rotated out, rebuild through the draft - thought we were going that way after '17 draft...

But I'd like to see min. six (6) to eight (8) rookies, young players added every year so that roster will stay young, strong for the long playoff runs...

So this happened today; guess we can take him off the list...

Re: 2020 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints

Clay Mathews (8 sacks)
Golden (10 sacks)
Everson G (see the Saints vs Vikes w/c game) ... 8 sack season.

All still available. Saints must get another pass rusher & make these QB's uncomfortable.

Disclaimer - this is no disrespect to the young guys .. Spence, Granderson, Davenport, TRex however they aren't getting it done.

Do you think we will sign one or two more fringe players before the draft or wait to see what needs we filled in the draft? We've done well with some fringe players who just fit our system and became cohesive with the unit.

One thing we really have to consider is that there probably won’t be any OTA’s or mini-camps this off-season... if there’s even a season at all. Having guys around who know the scheme will be important.

If you want to sign guys for depth ...

Better go find a DE/legitimate pass rusher. After Cam Jordan, it gets really dicey.

I’m intrigued by Noah Spence.
