"Premier" ... lol. Ok .. and no one is comparing him to the NFL, CFL etc. Dude was released from the Steelers for a reason.

I've watched other QB's around the XFL play much better than Landry. He's garbage plain and simple. 3 int's in 1 quarter is atrocious on any level but that is Stoop's guy.

But good for Jones and that $495k salary. It's great if you can get it.

That "premier" was tongue in cheek, of course. I was pointing out that he was supposed to be one of the best in the league, thus getting paid the most, but when compared to even backups in the NFL and CFL he pretty much sucks. A couple of the QB's I've seen may be good enough to earn a backup role in one of the other two "major" leagues. PJ Walker with Houston is one of them. He spent a couple of years or so on the Colts practice squad but maybe his showing in the XFL can get him back into the league. He is undersized, of course, but that is being more and more overlooked recently.

I don't know about ratings, but an average attendance of less than 20,000 a game has to be a concern.

Segue question- does any player look ready to compete for an NFL job? Can the StL qb be the next Taysom? The Houston WR is blowing it up in stats, but how does that translate?

I read that the league is hoping to maintain an average of between 14K and 18K. Some individual teams are expected to be higher, like St. Louis, but that is the level that they are expecting.

It's really hard to gauge individual players as their competition is far inferior to what they would face in the NFL.

I could see the QB from Houston getting an invite to a NFL camp this summer

I can’t remember the coach but one of them said that when evaluating players from “smaller” schools, one of the things they look at is if they dominate their competition

Maybe it was Payton since the Saints have drafted and signed players from schools outside the power 5 conferences

XFL issues apology for key error at end of game.

The XFL issued an apology for an officiating error that denied the Seattle Dragons an opportunity to tie the Houston Roughnecks at the end of Saturday's game.
With Houston leading by nine on its own 22-yard line, Roughnecks quarterback P.J. Walker took a knee on fourth down to end the game. However, the XFL said Walker's knee clearly touched the field with approximately two seconds remaining, meaning the ball should have been turned over to Seattle.

I am petty but glad that a Seattle team got the short end of the stick.
