Re: Jameis Winston 1 yr deal
Not a fan in any way, shape or form. Winston does not have what it takes mentally to be a consistent or winning QB in the NFL. I would not want his personality in the locker room. I believe it will take away much needed and well deserved reps Hill needs in his progression as a QB. If you believe Hill is your future QB, he should get the physical and mental reps as sole and clear backup this season. I get Winston is young, experienced, cheap and has physical skills. I get having competition at every position which isn't easy under the cap. I understand Payton being intrigued and believing he can get the best out of him. I just don't like him or believe it was necessary.

Re: Jameis Winston 1 yr deal
Jameis is also coming directly from our biggest threat in the NFC South.
He has the highest familiarity with Bruce Arians system and the core of that team is back on both sides of the ball. Information aka intel. Bottom line is that our coach is still a mastermind offensive coordinator who has mentored untold QB's (Romo/Brees) into a winning franchise. He thought enough of Jameis to bring him in and add to a stacked roster. He could have possibly made more money elsewhere but "chose" New Orleans. The kid put an emphasis on his future. I think he's maturing and have good people in his camp. I know many believe this is just an "insurance policy" signing to Brees … I'm just not so sure about that. Saints have brought in a talented QB, former 1st rd pedigree that could develop into the successor to the GOAT. To be continued ... |

Re: Jameis Winston 1 yr deal
I was expecting a veteran QB signing all along so this doesn't surprise me one bit. Winston should come in as cheaply as any other and he definitely has upside. The "intel" mentioned above may be a small factor, but what I enjoy is how the Bucs fans are taking this. They are pissed. LOL!

Winston starts vs Tampa, beats a GOAT, and exacts ultimate revenge in the process?

Personally think Brady came down to the NFC South because he was able to play Brees at least 2 more times head to head. Both are competitors and now that Brady is in our division, we'll be stronger. |

Jameis is a future compensatory pick at worst.

Re: Jameis Winston 1 yr deal
I think every position on this years team is up for grabs, as it always should be. These are the last few years to push with a HOF QB and stud talent with Kamara, MT, and a stud defensive line into another SuperBowl.
How much does Peat actually pop against the cap? I thought Wofford was the bigger hit on cap. |
