Cutting or trading Thomas this season would result in a $20 million cap hit because of accelerated guarantees and bonuses. He cannot be traded or released (even if they would ever dream to do either) this year. Next year would still cost the Saints $14 million in dead cap which the Saints will not have, especially if Brees decides to retire. 2022 is the earliest that they can separate from Thomas if they even wanted to. All they could do is sit him and continue paying him and that would be as ridiculous as your goofy assed scenario. I'm sorry but you have no sense of reality. ![]() Edit: By the way, what the hell is a kwan? ![]() |

Telling us that we don’t understand how great they are at doing the impossible when it comes to “kicking the can” down the proverbial road.

They talked about this very scenario on Moving the Chains a couple of days ago when a caller suggested the Falcons should trade Julio Jones. They said that it was impossible to trade him until 2022 because of his contract cap hit, which is very similar to Thomas'. The same with Matt Ryan. |

Regardless, I’m a fan of the player, he’s a superstar. He dominates the playing field..., you just don’t find those types of players every day. And I look forward to him getting healthy and on the field.

I like the guy bc of how dominating he is on the field and the Saints have missed him playing, regardless of record. But if he’s gone next year, I won’t lose any sleep, that’s a guarantee! Player’s move around the league for many reasons. You won’t catch me being a “homer” for any active player or coach. Every player is a cost benefit analysis. Every. Single. Player. And coach also, lol. Regardless, you may prove correct, I don’t know..., I just see the very obvious reasons why trading him immediately is a very, very, tough call.
