Re: 2021 NFL Free Agency: New Orleans Saints
The Saints breed offensive linemen like no other team, that doesn’t always translate to their success with another team though. Senio was one of those players..., Was one of the top guards in the league while here, especially in 2017, but went to Houston and contributed to a pretty crappy offensive line there. A bit of analysis is in order, iyam, from 2017.
“In his career-high 314 pass-blocking snaps at guard with the New Orleans Saints last season, Kelemete allowed just eight total pressures (five hurries, two hits, one sack), which was good for a 98.0 pass-blocking efficiency.” https://www.pff.com/news/pro-nfls-to...ing-efficiency A horrible run blocker though, exact opposite of his pass blocking skills. Performed horribly while in Houston though at run and pass blocking. Senio was a quiet performer while in New Orleans. Did his job very well, better than most in the NFL, day in/day out. I liked him then, still do now. Unheralded. |

No offense to Kelemete, but he left the Saints to be a starter, which is something he wouldn't have been with the Saints.
And if we are going to play the "what if" game then I'd say the Saints could've added much better guards through the draft and/or free agency since he left. |

Did they wait a season too long to address Peat not working out at guard? were they salvaging a blown first round pick? Why did they not spend the extra mil and get Zeitler instead of Warford? How costly is moving up with multiple picks when disposable picks could be used on guards?(see starting guards taken in fourth, fifth, sixth rounds)... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

I mean Kelemete was never a world-beater, so it's crazy to cry after him.
Many have fond memories of him, but I also distinctly remember seeing him on his back quite a few times. He was solid depth, but you can't hang on to those guys if someone offers them starter money/opportunity. |

2017 he had 314 pass blocking snaps. Allowing only 8 pressures, 5 hurries, 2 QB hits, and 1 sack. From a pass blocking perspective, you can’t get much better than him. |
