Yeah, the Payton-Loomis bromance has been a little slow catching on to the Ravens-Patriots-Steelers free agency management...

Former Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome was one of the first guys to go through the NFL's Management Development Program as most the NFL was, is nepotism...

Ozzie got a PhD in Compensatory Picks; that's why he had the Ravens reloaded so fast and contending every other year...

Other teams are finally catching on...

Yeah, talked to a friend who's a big Steelers fan this weekend (lost BF last week to the vaccine so we were catching up); mentioned Nelson, he said you can have 'em...

It’s interesting to think about how the COVID situation has impacted the Saints this off season. Maybe this has been brought up and maybe I’m stating the obvious here. But a good portion of the “Salary Cap Hell” the team found itself in was due to the massive cap reduction caused by the pandemic. They would likely have been slightly over either way, but it’s entirely possible Jenkins, Rankins, T Rex or some of the other cap casualties would have been retained without that massive reduction. Heck, it might have indirectly had an impact on Brees retiring. Just thinking out loud.

You think you know, but you don’t know...and you never will! Coach Jim Mora

The pandemic not only reduced the cap by around $16 million, but eliminated the $12-$15 million increase expected in 2022. That is up to a $31 million cap hit. Fortunately, with the new broadcast deals and the ever increasing popularity of the NFL this will be just a blip on the radar. There have been a record number of one year (or two to three year voiding to one) contracts that both the franchises and player/agents have agreed to this season to weather that blip.

We hit on UDFA's because we have a vision for them. Some pop the first year like Harris while others need development and a season in an NFL weight room with a professional trainer. Where they learn new moves and techniques to fulfil Payton's vision. We have a ton of spots opening up and anyone competing will have a better shot than years gone by.

We have eight drat picks to help fill out the 30 or so spots on the roster. We can afford to bring in a mid-tier FA or maybe two and that leaves quite a bit of room to make the roster. We will probably bump up several PS members this year who are ready to take on their role.

Yeah, and that's what teams who win have to do, get rookies involved Year 1, and then coach 'em up, develop them, bring them along...

Harris should be seeing some significant snaps at WRz this year, which I look forward to having a QB who can throw with some accuracy downfield...

And Payton/Loomis playing right up to the cap finally caught up and cost some talent this year; basic money management - leave some on the side for rainy days...

And no local journalist will call Payton on it for fear of retaliation led by the Saints Media Whip...

No matter, it's done, let's see what happens moving forward and if they learn from their mistakes or if that takes a few seasons...
