Huh?

The guy was THE best CB in the entire league two seasons ago, and was the best CB in the league for 4 or 5 years.

Sorry for the sarcasm, he may have been a good corner in the league 3 years ago. He spent the last 2 in Phili as part of the dream team or should I say no so dream team.
I do believe that D. Revis holds that title as the the best corner in the league

I didn't say he IS the best CB in the league, I said he was 2 seasons ago.

I just can't continue to point out the square peg in a round hole anymore. I fuggin give up. If you don't understand that simple concept by now you never will.

You're right I'll never understand what they would want with a soft over the hill CB. May have been and still is are two different things.

Re: Report: Saints “Pushing” To Sign CB Nnamdi Asomugha

I wonder if he played crappy to force Philly to release him. It doesn't seem like Philly is a great place to play from what I've read. It's very hard for me to believe that a player like that would have such a huge drop off like he did-even with a scheme change. But if he really does suck that bad in zone coverage, I don't care how good he is man to man, I don't want him.

Re: Report: Saints “Pushing” To Sign CB Nnamdi Asomugha

Why would anyone want to sign a soft corner in a division where they have receivers like Julio Jones, Roddy White , Vincent Jackson, Steve smith all physical receivers that would have there way with Nnamdi totally confuses me. We not talking about a guy who had a bad year he had two horrible years and never was known for his tackling abilities.
I made the comment earlier that Atlanta had a young corner that got hurt last year, why not check him outand he's definitely not afraid to get physical.

Nnamdi's best asset was his ability to get physical at the line and jam WR's forcing them out of their routes, and then sticking to them like glue.

It was why everyone said it was a mistake for him to go to a zone scheme.

And that check at the line of scrimmage last season would have provided valuable time for us to get to the QB.

How many sacks did we miss by .5-1s? That check on the WR gives us that extra time. I am starting to see his value more and more.

The Oak can become the Grasshopper only if he jumps into the knowledge.

I rolled up all the Nnamdi threads into one.

When/if he signs we can start a new Nnamdi is a Saint thread.

Is he what he once was, no. Is he better then Greer and Robinson, he'll yeah! IMO he has 2 or 3 good seasons left in him.

If you're referring to Brent Grimes then I'm all for that. That guy can play. But he's in a similar situation. He had a torn achilles last year. That can be a career ender, and at the very least may have eroded some of his quickness.

So basically Nnamdi and Grimes both have unanswered questions about whether thay are the same player they used to be. And Grimes will be 30 when the season starts, so he's no youngster either.

Re: Nnamdi Asomugha (All in one)

They have taken a run at 3 or 4 CBs which makes me wonder if our safeties are gonna get a pass for last season or what...... Jenkins is ok, but very tradeable, and Harper if his salary is brought down is the same way.

Even if nnamdi sign with N.O I don't think we are finished with the secondary upgrade..... Or else why would they even look at porter.

Re: Nnamdi Asomugha (All in one)

I don't know why anyone would complain about us bringing in all the corners that we can. The market is flooded, & they are cheaper than they probably will ever be. We're in a passing league, & the teams that are consistently good have powerhouse offenses and deep secondaries. We're likely just a pass rusher away from being competitive on D anyway. Stop complaining and let Loomis and Payton do what they do best....win.

I'm just elated we were able to sign Keenan Lewis. This defensive front and secondary needs all the help we can get.

Not complaining, just the opposite.... Waiting for the bottom to fall out on roman Harper, hoping trade for Malcolm Jenkins scenarios start poppin up. Just wondering if corner is the only position in the secondary that Payton, loomis blame for last season.

Its either us or the 49ers and I think he's waiting to see what other moves are made before he decides

Do you think Loomis put some just in case money aside for him? I couldn't see us affording him from the beginning without one of those megamillion signing bonus and peanuts for salary deals.

Salary/bonuses/deadmoney and salary cap are transparent items, they are what they are. There is no hiding money for a rainy day, and we are very close to having no one that we "want" to get rid of ....

Right now we would have to cut Ivory or PT. if I remember correctly they are both worth 2m each and neither has dead money associated.

It's all right here.

I think we all know that boils down to if we get pressure on the qb or not. If we get pressure then the rest will take care of itself.
