Re: Namdi coming to New Orleans tommorow!!!!
Loomis gets paid to figure out the money...
I don't pretend to know what goes on in the front office. |

I think he's entertaining the Saints and checking his options. He will go to San Fran. JMHO.
|
I wonder what would happen with Greer and Jenkins

Keep Greer,I don't know why anyone would want to let him go.
|
re: Nnamdi Asomugha (All in one)
I hope he isn't just using this visit to drive up his price in the eyes of the other teams involved - i.e. the 49ers - and that he'd be willing to sign for $3-5M per year.
|
Re: nnamdi asomugha to visit
Rob Ryan will get him to sign, just depends of if Loomis is willing to let go of the cap space...

Re: Namdi coming to New Orleans tommorow!!!!
YEA THERE HAS TO BE A DEAL ALREADY IN PLACE TO TRADE ROMAN HARPER!
Reasons why Harper will either be cut outright or traded: 1. Mickey never called his agent to try to lower his salary like all the other older veterans. 2. Sean's been fairly critical of Roman's play in saying he has to evaluate the defensive side of the ball with a critical and rational eye! Even going on to saying he would have to look at everyone equally and acknowledging that we have to separate what we're attached to!!3. Roman's cap number is something close to the Franchise Tag for a safety or which is obsurd! BYE had a nice run He's more valuable in 4-3 Defense where he can be a 5th blitzer instead in a 3-4 you have an extra LB for 5th blitzer so basically he's about useless giving how he fails at being an effective and consistent tackler! So we can trsde him towards the draft hopefully or cut him!! Then for LT I hope we get either Menelik Watson or Terron Armstead anywhere from 2nd rd down! We need a passrusher in 1st unless we don't sign Namdi then we could look at CB but it's either CB, DT,or OLB!! #WHODAT |

Harpers gone if Nnamdi signs, and maybe Jabari too. Then it's time to talk to Mr Brees about a nice restructure to help out!!! |

Paying 3-5 million for a nickel corner is too much IMHO Jabari and Keenan both are 5 million
|
Re: Namdi coming to New Orleans tommorow!!!!
Nnamdi has played on two terrible teams IMHO coming to a great lockeroom land reuniting with Ryan he would do wonders for his motivation, Two years ago this guy was the prize FA . He might be willing to take a one year deal to revive his career. Ithink we will use our early picks on DL,OLB, OL, he has to be better than any late rd pick.

Re: nnamdi asomugha to visit
Why not look at Nnamdi no one else seems to be interested, he may come cheap.
Ed Reed is a different story, you will have to say goodbye to several players to get them both especially Reed not unless he gives a hometown discount. |

Asomugha wouldn't be a nickel CB if he were to sign with the Saints, at least not in my opinion. |
Re: nnamdi asomugha to visit
I might be wrong, but doesn't Reed have some health issues too?

Re: nnamdi asomugha to visit
with Nnamdi, Keenan, Greer as backup and Harper deep we will have obviously fixed the secondary now it's time to get that d line up to snuff. I really think we need to trade one of our RB's Like Pierre for a LT.

Re: nnamdi asomugha to visit
Asomugha has a form of color-blindness called Deuteranomaly.
So he was born in Lafayette, but grew up in California. No mention just how long he stayed in Louisiana. Let's hope the Saints and he can come to terms. I think he might versatile enough to perform as CB and safety if called upon. |

Re: nnamdi asomugha to visit
To visit the other teams and leave without a deal tells me he wants too much money. If he doesn't come cheap, the Saints have no shot at signing him.

Keenan - tallest or 2nd best Greer - slot or shorter wr Robinson - dime or penny White - dime or penny or starts doing Safety training? Jenkins over Harper deep please. Will Jenkins shine with a group of CB doing their job so he can do his and stop picking up their slack All silly until we find out were he stands Nnamdi - $ or ring? Thats the question. |
Re: Nnamdi Asomugha to visit
Could Rob Ryan be just what Nnamdi Asomugha needs? The Philadelphia Eagles cut the cornerback after two lackluster seasons last week. He signed a five-year, $60 million free agent contract before the 2011 season as part of the "Dream Team" moves. Asomugha was considered on par with Darrelle Revis before the failed experiment with the Eagles. He's due to visit the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, according to Matt Maiocco of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. Free-agent tracker Where will Brent Grimes wind up? Follow him and all the other NFL players on the move in our free-agent tracker. More ... The thought/hope is that the Eagles didn't play to Asomugha's strengths, which were that of a dominant press cornerback with the Raiders. Asomugha was a three-time Pro Bowl corner on the Oakland Raiders. Ryan brings his aggressive scheme to the Saints in an attempt to fix the No. 31 scoring defense that ranked dead last in yards allowed. If anyone knows how to best use Asomugha, it's Ryan. The two were together for five seasons (2004 to 2008) when Ryan was the Raiders' defensive coordinator. Asomugha, 31, has reached the second half of his career, but his body isn't breaking down. The 2013 season could be the last chance to show he still has elite skills. The San Francisco 49ers also have shown an interest in Asomugha. Link Back |
Re: Nnamdi Asomugha to visit
I feel like Harper could thrive if they move him closer to the line and let him play a rover S/LB. Adding Nnamdi would give us a lot of freedom. Greer would be a lockdown nickel.

Re: Nnamdi Asomugha to visit
If we can afford him, let 'er rip!

That Rob Ryan move isnt looking bad at all now...bringing a lot of excitement to the defense for 2013. Dont have to be great, just make plays...We could see the 2009 season all over again

Some of the comments I read are absolutely ridiculous, you want to throw away young players who didn't perform like an all pro to sign a bunch of aging football players such as Nnamdi, give me a break.
Spagnulo was the DC last year and was fired the instant SP was reinstated, I wonder why. Five the young guys a chance with someone who can teach. |

And they do need quality depth at the CB position regardless of what happens with Asomugha, and I do think Robinson can provide that at the least. Asomugha, Lewis, Greer, Robinson, and White would provide a nice deep CB corps going into the season, but there'd undoubtedly be a lot of money tied down to that position if that were the case. |
re: Nnamdi Asomugha (All in one)
You both are right of course. All of our guys spent most of the last two seasons wandering around the field looking for any kind of direction whatsoever. However, if all these guys come in, Robinson's probably not going to get much time on the field and I'm still not taking back anything I've said about Patrick.
