Taysom Hill: “Really nice” to tailor all offseason work to playing QB

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Here's a thought ... The team will most likely lose some games no matter who is at QB... Hill has better skills to get us the tough wins than Winston. And sure, why not ON OCCAISION use Winston as QB ...

I confess - I'm hoping for Hill to be the next great QB on the scene. Winston already LOST ONE JOB and I don't want to see a repeat here. I've already said on here that if Winston gets the Job, in mho he will lose it by week six or at most week eight. CLEARLY Hill is on the way up and Winston is trying to HANG ON. lol. Just so everyone is clear about MHO.

Get a grip, son. You are losing it. Hill has done nothing but fill in at a satisfactory level when needed.

As for Winston, yes, we know he won a National Championship in college. We know he won the most prestigious honor for a college player with the Heisman. We know he led the league in passing yards in 2019. We know he was second in the league in TD passes in 2019.

What has Hill accomplished? Why does he deserve the starting role?

I'll give it to you he needs to play. He is a great athlete. Just not at QB.

Only when it helps him sell his narrative or tell someone that he's right and they're wrong.

This is an often missed but very important teaching moment. It is all fine and dandy to tell children "you can be anything that you want to". But, by the time adulthood arrives adequate time should have been spent determining what skill sets are present.

I started working during the summer when I was 13 as a welders helper on a pipeline crew. Each summer my job was different and by the time I was 17 I had spent time sandblasting, painting, chipping buckshot, driving dozers and tractors, working on bulldozers and tractors, plowing, bush-hogging, levy repair. general farm work etc... This gave me a wide variety of application experience and an understanding of my natural abilities. Spend a summer on a 25 year old Massey Ferguson and you'll get a feel for your mechanical and trouble shooting talents lol.

Recent generations have pumped out young adults with a head full of goals and dreams but an absolutely empty toolbox or applications understanding outside of a through misunderstanding of our government, adequate complaint and sarcasm prowess, and a decent KDR in BattleField...

In Taysom's head he is an NFL QB, in his toolkit he is not (or it remains to be seen if he is).

I watch some bowl games and watch whenever I can see my NC State play even though I honestly couldn't name a single player on the roster, either. You really don't have to follow the college game at all to know who wins the Heisman, however.

First of all, cut back on the caffeine. Second, I guess Kamara and CGM “deserve” a chance at QB too then for all they’ve done for this team, right? Because so far all Hill has shown is that he’s a great athlete who can run, hit, and catch and has a Propensity to fumble when he does so. As Clint Eastwood said in Unforgiven “deserving’s got nothing to do with it”.

And what does growing into the position mean? Hill is three years older than Winston. Hill gets a chance to grow into the NFL QB position, but Winston doesn’t? You don’t think Green Bay and Saints coaches (plus the entire drafting NFL world) might know a thing or two about evaluating his potential as a starting NFL QB? Since playing at BYU the dude has had every opportunity to win a starting QB job and, guess what?...HE IS GETTING ANOTHER ONE RIGHT NOW! Hill, Winston, Simeon, and Book are all getting the chance to win the starting job. I personally don’t care who it is that does win it but my money is on Winston. Doesn’t mean I’m pulling for him more than anyone else. But he’s clearly demonstrated he posses superior skills to be an NFL QB over the other three at this point.

Hey man, Hill is the underdog. Never played a down for a rival. Ever. He's come in and played multiple positions and has done well doing it. Even doing things that your boy Winston would scoff and probably refuse to do.

I've been pulling for the underdog for a 35 years (the Saints). Not gonna stop now. And there ain't a damn thing wrong with it.

Anyone pulling for Hill....I say hell yeah! And if he doesn't get the nod at QB, I hope he makes the whole team rethink their rank and file at their position. Because he makes them all look expendable.

Nothing wrong with cheering for a true athlete and a true sportsman.
