He certainly wasn't anywhere near as good in college as was Winston and played against far inferior opponents. Hill ------- 37 games, 58.2% completion, 43 passing TD's, 31 picks, 32 rushing TD's Winston - 27 games, 66.0% completion, 65 passing TD's, 28 picks, 7 rushing TD's |

Re: Taysom Hill: “Really nice” to tailor all offseason work to playing QB
I remember someone claiming that Taysom broke all of Steve Young's BYU records. While looking at college numbers I discovered that Taysom doesn't own any BYU records. In fact, Steve Young only owns one record himself and that's for season passing percentage at .713. Ty Detmer, John Walsh, and Jim McMahon own most all of the others.

Now, after a full season followed by a mostly full pre-season they should be on even ground as far that the playbook goes. I believe Winston is still miles ahead on pure ability to play QB, however.
All Hill managed to do when he started was to keep his head above water while facing a horrible Falcons' defense twice, a Denver team with no QB on the roster, and a poor Philly team to which he lost. Now, if by some miracle he does outperform Winston then he may get the job, but it will cost the Saints he tremendous talents in other parts of the game. Even if he were somehow somewhat better than Winston it would be a net loss for the Saints offense. That's why I am hoping like hell that Winston beats him out, which I fully expect, and we can field a better team all around. |

That is glaringly obvious, Boston. That line of thinking IS crap, but it is absolutely real.

Re: Taysom Hill: “Really nice” to tailor all offseason work to playing QB
There are enough black QBs starting and being given a chance in the league for me to accept that as a certainty. The Saints has no problem with Brooks or Blake starting. Winston is just being thrown in the same group with guys like Trubitski, Darnold, and Rosen. What I can’t figure out is why when he’s better than them.
