I wonder how Atlanta would handle that $55 million cap hit by getting rid of Matt Ryan. It would be cheaper to keep him on the roster. Which, I suppose would make sense for them since Watson may get suspended the first six games anyway. Then again, I doubt Ryan would buy into any of that.

It would be fun watching the turmoil though. :D

He’s never healthy but Fuller would be that Z-receiver we’re missing.

I thought about this for a bit. Blank less interested in having Watson in a falcons jersey as he is having Watson not in a Saints jersey.

Rivalries generally extend past the field... Or faced with Brady and Watson in the NFC South, Blank cant stomach where he knows the Falcons will sit at the end of the season. :bng:

Dont sleep on why Blank did this himself instead of sending Fontenot or Smith either, Watson had issues with the Texans ownership not keeping their word and he wants to show Watson that he is different. This also keeps his pitch Falcons vs Texans not Falcons vs Saints.

I can see that as well but Blank will have to overhaul that team. There’s no receivers, no running game, a bad o-line and a below average defense. He’ll have to sell Watson on a long term plan. Cause if they land him they still aren’t winning anything no time soon

I'm told there's a "we know you. you're our own kind" message being sent.

Watson is a 26 year old kid who may yearn for the people and places he knows and trusts. Ones who will support him no matter what as he's resurrecting his life and career.

Actually he wouldn’t have to sell Watson on a long term plan, it’s much easier than that. Watson was sideways with Texans ownership because they promised him a seat at the table in certain team decisions and reneged on that promise. All Blank has to say is “we are rebuilding and you will have a word in the decisions” and Watson will eat that **** up. He follows that with, “ I am here because I’m the only one that can promise you that seat”… Done deal.

This was my first though when I saw the news about the Falcons being in the mix. It wouldn’t surprise me if part of the reason the Saints got interested is because the Panthers showed interest first.

I don't know. Jameis is capable, but he didn't set the world on fire. Watson is, IMO, a level above.

The Cleveland Browns finished their meeting Tuesday with Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Atlanta Falcons are next on the list.

Still remember rookie Watson tearing apart Seattle's LOB Defense.

Regardless, I don't think he comes to us, I think another team will swoop in and get him.

I was talking with my brother who lives in Seattle and he was saying the same thing about him tearing up the Seachicken D. He’s all in on acquiring Watson.

I can't say I am completely on board. I am just afraid the team is going to give up the farm for a guy who is about to be suspended.

I'd be willing to wait 6 weeks or whatever to lock up a guy at QB for the next decade +. I mean who knows, but we're not about to draft somebody like him and we don't have somebody like him on the roster. I say go for it.

Speedo is only against it because he's been telling everybody we're crazy and that the Saints were 100% down with Jameis.

Yet Vicodin, bountygate, Payton on coke, and other transgressions just didn’t happen. During the Payton/Brees era everyone in the organization was squeaky clean.

I think i’d still rather sign Winston and use the picks for needed WR, OL, RB, and safety help. Making the trade wouldn’t upset me too much though.

I’m stopped worrying about a suspension after the Grand Judy shut the criminal aspect down. It could still happen but it’s less likely now. I do have a concern with the civil cases distracting him for a year or more as we have a right to a speedy trial but law suits can drag out as each is processed under its own merit.

Re: Deshaun Watson to Saints?

Jameis Winston's ($3M) and Terron Armstead's ($13M) dead money hits the books today at 4:00 EDT. That means we either have to do several more restructures today or get a deal done with either or both. We can more readily absorb Winston's hit, of course. And extending Armstead would make sense if we also get Watson.

Its worth nothing and if you are going to just share tweets please at lease make sure they say something.

That says nothing, Atlanta does not have best offer on the table. The best offer is the one from a team with the best shot at giving Watson a title as endorsements after a title easily offset any contract variance.

Then again, did you teach him? All he is doing is taking something from one source and transferring it without any real understanding. "Not a sources guy but I have been told", WTF does that actually mean?
