I'm beginning to wonder if Pete Carmichael forgot what motion was when Payton left? If I remember correctly, we were close to the bottom of the league in pre-snap motion last year. However, with DC4 under center, we might find that some of Payton's best plays are still available. I'm a huge fan of letting the QB have a good read on the defense when they mark the man in motion, while giving away their defensive alignment to a QB who reads the field well like Carr does.

Oh man! We are so close to football. Woo Hoo!!!

What do you think he can do for the team at his age? How many TD's does he need to justify a roster spot? I'm really curious about what you think the benefits are.

I think he can still move the chains and score in the redzone. I don’t see him making explosive plays, but 6’7” is 6’7”. He should still be able to use that body to shield defenders from the ball and make contested catches to help the team. I wouldn’t be mad to see jumbo sets with Johnson, Moreau, and Graham all on the field at once. It’s just an interesting chess piece that didn’t cost us much of anything. I guess what I’m saying is it doesn’t hurt to have him.

Don't forget Jesse James ... IMO he has more value (blocking) than old man Jimmy G.

I'll be curious to see which is still on the squad after week 3 of pre season.

Injuries have a way to sort things out ...

Saints signed Max Garcia today. Source - Jeremy Fowler

8 year veteran guard. Started in 7 games last season with the Cards.

Potentially another quality DEPTH signing. I like that approach by the Saints front office brass.

Hey, they’ve got cap space. I like that they will use it and Make a signing. I’d like to see Dalvin Cook added at a bargain deal if he wants to tag along for a SB run. He’d help lessen any Kamara suspension

Good point. Blocking ability has kept Trequan on the roster.

Keep an eye on these guys as well ...

James Washington (solid vet)
Keke Coutee
Brian Edwards

Then you have the rookies Shaq and AT Perry.

IMO what you see is what you are going to get with Trequan. His ceiling (year #5) has been reached as a professional.

I'm hoping one of those rookies leaves a lasting impression on the coaching staff
