Saints Offer J. Brown for #2 update on pg 19!!!

That would be a big blunder if a deal like such were to happen.

The offer is Brown & the #10 from what I'm told. As for the "why didn't Brown get replaced last year" question....think about it. You have a guy at LT who was a 1st round pick (Brown) making 1st round pick money. You make hime earn his money. Then...you have a guy who was picked on the second day (Strief). Brown started & earned his money (barely). I'm sorry, but I have never thought Brown was as good as hyped. If we get the Rams to deal on Brown & the #10, I still think our FO did fine.

Steep price for an unproven defensive tackle no matter how much I like him... not to mention the money it's going to take to sign him. I wouldn't even consider such a deal... but that's just me.

This is just a rumored report anyways... I'm sure everyone is blowing smoke up each others blow hole.

I am all for a trade to go and get Glenn Dorsey, even though I'm not sure if giving #10 and Brown is a good idea. I've like the consistency of our line over the past two seasons, and losing two guys in one offseason could be very upsetting to the performance of the offense.

However, if the Dorsey deal can't be worked, I think that trading up to the Patriots' spot at #7 would allow us to land Ellis. The Jets will take McFadden if he's there and that should leave Ellis around at #7. The price to move up to #7 isn't that much, especially considering I could see the Patriots wanting to move down, get an extra pick, and take a cornerback. Anyways, that's what I'm thinking.

Why didn't we offer Brown and #10 to the Dolphins as well if he was expendable? Last week it seemed the Fins were trying to get out of the 1 spot so they may have taken the offer more easily than the Rams. Then we could get whomever we liked.

its simple -value. You don't negociate with a team that isn't going to pick your guy, thats stupid. You go to a team that is 'likely' to draft him. Saves you value and a couple of duckets.

I don't think the Rams will draft Dorsey but I think its like they could.

There is this word that is floated around a good bit called -development-. Maybe some of you heard of such a thing. You get a player and you take some time and let him develop for when you do need him.

I am totally ok with this because our line looked suspect with him in there at times. Its about time we realize that it doesn't matter if we score 30 a game that if our opponets score 40 -we lose.

We need to build a big bad D if we want to win a SB period.

I hear ya. They did pick an OT though so they may have gone for the deal and that would put us in a position to get Dorsey at 1 and there wouldn't be any doubt if we'd get him. If he's as good as he's scouted to be then what's a few mill?

...a few mill adds up quick! Especially when they perform to that level and then some, they'll want even more. See see the reason you don't trade with the Fins is because word was out they were in negociations with Long. They aren't taking 'your' guy, there is no sense to trade with him if your guy is still going to be on the board. You go deal with the next guy who might want or may consider him Dorsey.

Saints are offering them a great deal I think it would be hard to pass up. They are getting a Starter on the OL as well as a DE that they need at 10 in Harvey who can come in and start. Anytime you can walk away from a deal with 2 starters I say it win.
