Re: Should Aaron Brooks make the Saints Hall of Fame one day?
good question, lot's of good points made here.... all my opinions have been covered. I voted Yes.
I started to resent Brooks towards the end of his career because I went to almost every camp opened to public and watched Delhomme blow everyone's minds.... then to show up in preseason and show nothing but leadership qualities and winner tangibles.... only to go back to carrying clipboards behind a declining Brooks towards the end. Aside from that, Aaron was a huge part of our history, many great memories, many painful.... but, he was a great player on one of the few winning season Saints teams. Like Hebert, he had great times, he had ugly times. His demise was unnecessarily prolonged by Haslett. |

Were I a Nazi, I would have stopped you from asking the question, I did not. I gave you negative Rep for asking such an offensive question, which is well within my rights. So, are you trying to say that all topics you start are not because you are interested in the topic, but just to promote activity on the board? And on top of that you should not be at all held accountable for your post because you brought activity to the board with your offensive question? So in response you brand me of the same ilk as a band of some of the most notorious mass murderers in the history of our civilization? What is your next post going to be? "I think Jeremy Shockey masturbates to Gay Porno!"? That should get a ton of attention on the board. No, I don't think it works like that. There is only one thing for you to do with that opinion, and that is scratch some sand on it, cat man. Also, I totally acknowledge that our Defense sucked in the A.B. era. It did, and if the defense would have been better we would have won a lot more games and we would have been playoff contenders every year. That does NOT mean that A.B. didn't suck, and it does not mean A.B. didn't throw away a lot of games through stupidity or incompetence. Because he did. 17 come from behind victories? They were always behind anyway. That is almost half his total wins! That isn't a statistic, that is a circumstance. Archie is beloved because even though his stats sucked he had talent and heart. All AB has are stats padded with garbage yards and winning one important game. Frankly, I think winning that playoff game hurt us in the long run, because if A.B. had lost that game then I think Jeff Blake would had a better chance of taking us to the playoffs the next year, and perhaps years beyond. His post career accolades should reflect his career. A.B. was not a Hall-of-Famer, he was a statistic. A name etched briefly at the top of a few statistical records, but long enough for his memory to, unfortunately, linger. |

This is an "offensive question?" --to which group of hyphenated-Americans?
I dont like Aaron Brooks either, but I wouldnt call any of this "offensive." --seemed to be a rather interesting discussion, to me, not to mention roughly half at this time have responded "yes." Let me know what other topics are forbidden. |

Actually I thought your original post that took a REP point away was funny. I laughed when you stole a point from Strato too. LOL Brooks in the Saints HOF was brought up by Bobby Hebert on the radio 870AM the other day and the reaction was split. I thought it would be a good offseason subject and create some activity and I was right. Brooks treads are always controversial. People tend to forget that he had 4 pretty good years. Plus with no defense, you were always playing from behind. The 17 come from behind victories was mainly because of him. As you point out, we had no defense. People could just pin their ears back. The real problems came when Mike McCarthy went to coach Green Bay. That's when Brooks and the whole offensive team fell apart. I remember in his final 2 years, he had 2 seconds to get rid of the ball and that was on slow motion.
