My Mock Draft(optimistic of course)
____________________________

1. (Trade back, gain 2nd Rounder)
Pick: LB Alec Ogletree, Georgia/DE Sheldon Richardson, Mizzou/DB Kenny Vacarro, Texas

(Of course if Jones, DJ, Ziggy, Mingo, Werner, etc fell id love to have em, but im trying to be more on the realistic side)

2. CB David Amerson, NC State

3. NT Brandon Williams, Missouri Southern

4. CB/KR Tyrann Mathieu, LSU(Former)

5. OT/TE Best Available(we can all "hope" a David Quessenberry - SDSU or Dion Sims - MSU type of player is available but thats highly unlikely. but hopefully we can uncover one of those gems again)

6. OLB/DE Quanterus Smith, Western Kentucky

Let me know your thoughts fellas. we can all dream cant we? lets be real though...something is gonna happen thats gonna catch everyone by surprise, its bound to happen. this draft is gonna blow alot of ppls minds. all it takes is one team to change the whole draft.

It will be hard finding a trade partner this year IMO.Its a deep draft but lacking in sure fire starters. Most of the top players have question marks and unless somebody falls in line with a prospect I do t think it would be easy to trade back.
Not keen on Matheiu with a 4th personally. 'd rather get a big CB,too many question marks over him, height, off field issues.

im good wit the guy(Mathieu) but i understand your concern. we need as many playmakers we can get. and the kids tape is good despite off the field issues, but we shall see on that.

there are many other options in the mid rounds as well....

CB - Robert Alford, Southeastern Louisiana
OLB/DE - Michael Buchanon, Illinois
OLB/DE - James Gayle, Virginia Tech
S - Bacarri Rambo, Georgia
LB - John Simom, Ohio State
CB - Logan Ryan, Rutgers

other options as well, but u get the point.

Those are great options, but a lack of offensive tackles is the problem we have...

Absolutely, and the Saints won't be the only team looking to trade down and gain a later pick because of it, so it probably is best not to even consider that scenario and be pleasantly surprised if it happens.

Actually this draft is very deep in starters - you just don't have those "wow" players this season; of course, we don't have all our picks because of commissioner penalties and a not so thought-out FA signing...

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

the problem is the top players well aint that great. the standouts that are in the top ten are not there this year. so everyone is open to trading down. the price maybe right this year for targeting players and moving up. then again maybe not

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Thought Star Lotulelei would be worth moving up to get; but that heart condition is as scary as the spinal stenois Jones has - No Thanks...

While I have an apparent man crush on Ogletree, while not as bad as the one with Clay Matthews a few drafts ago, I think he's the impact player moved to the outside to complement Lofton and take this defense into a top five unit, I wouldn't be disappointed to move back, grab Jesse Williams and gain another second rounder (do I still have false hope of a reversal?!?)...

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

see i have been playing around with the idea say take a chance in the 5th or 6th for

Michael Williams, TE, Alabama
Height: 6-5. Weight: 269

and beef him up a bit if needed and train him to be a TE/OT. he already has the blocking skill. 2 for the price of one type of move

heck he maybe ready to back up now as it is. plus you get a true tackle eligible player
