Jonathan Franklin, RB, UCLA is a solid pick for the saints. he is another PT in my opion which is key. solid in the passing game and good at pass protection.

Brian Schwenke, C, Cal - is probably the best true OC that would not only fit the saints system but give the saints a mobile OC that can pull and get to the next level

Terry Hawthorne, CB, Illinois - is an interesting prospect that is climbing the boards. go back 2 years and you see more of his game than last year. like so many of the Illi players.

Bennie Logan DT LSU - but can he play NT?

Levine Toilolo, TE, Stanford - we talked about him

RB? I'd like to go UDFA this year to replace Ivory when traded...

We've got to find a way to use Ingram or trade him while he's got some value left...

Logan could play End for the Saints - only issue is he's always been in a rotation, what happens in the NFL when a man goes down and you don't have 80 suited up on Sunday?!?

Schwenke wouldn't be a bad pick...

What are people's thought on Sheldon Richardson with our 1st.He was ranked that highly pre combine but has slipped down a bit since. If Hicks is to play minutes at NT some depth is needed at DE.
I'm unsure on all the OLB personally.I really like Jones and if the doctors say he is healthy then I'd pull the trigger. He may have a shorter career but who knows what the cap situation will be like after his rookie deal anyway.I don't care that his numbers don't look as good when in shorts, the guy is a football player.I still like Ogletree too.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

Been playing around a few ideas in my head last couple of hours.
Don't tell my boss!

Draft 1
Trade Ivory to jets for a5th

1 Desmond Trufant CB
3 C. Faulk/B. Jones/T. Armstead LOT
4 J Kruger/W. Gholston/Devin Taylor DE
5 Bruce Taylor/AJ Klein(ILB) or Michael Buchanan/Quinterious Smith(OLB)
5 K.Geathers/M Hughes NT
6 Marques Wilson/Tavaris King WR

Or
Trade 15th pick to Bengals for both seconds(Raiders) and there 5th
And Ivory Jets 5th

2 Datone Jones/S.Williams/J Hankins DE
2 Kennan Allen/Robert Woods WR
3 C. Faulk/B. Jones/T. Armstead OT
4 L McFadden/BJ Webb CB
5 Jordan Mills/David Queensberry OT
5 Bruce Taylor/AJ Klein(ILB) or Michael Buchanan/Quinterious Smith(OLB)
5 K.Geathers/M Hughes NT
6 Marques Wilson/Tavaris King WR

Our 15th pick in the first round is valued at 1050 points and the value of the Bengals second rounders are 530 and 370 points. Their 5th rounder is valued at 29 points for a total of 929 points. I think we can get a better deal from the Bengals. But under your scenario, here are my picks:
2(5) CB David Amerson or WR Justin Hunter
2(21) DL Jesse Williams
3(13) OLB Jamie Collins
4(16) OL Barrett Jones
5(8) OT Chris Faulk
5(16) S TJ McDonald
5(23) NT TJ Barnes
6(15) TE Joseph Fauria

not bad i could live with it and debate a few and accept the risk for all the picks. Williams is my only doubt in availability so how would it change your draft? Jones and Faulk falling to us will require some serious chicken sacrifices and a few night long voodoo dance parties

fill in the blank if we are waiting to the fifth for NT i would probably dbl draft a DT/DE in the fifth.

I think Jesse Williams is an important piece to our puzzle. I'd move him up to 2(5) if I didn't think he'd be there. You're probably right about his availability but I was basing it off of a mock draft from walterfootball that had him falling to 2(31). Then Collins, Jones, and Faulk would get moved up and we'd take CB Tharold Simon at 5(8). I know some people don't have the highest opinion of him, but it's hard to split hairs in the fifth round.

Give coach Payton a toy with that 5th pick KR/PR/RB Kenjon Barner.

I would certainly dust off the old altar for a few sacrifices in order to make this draft happen.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft - Saints Big Board

In the CBS mock draft consisting of Rob Rang, Dane Brugler, Pat Kirwan, and Pete Prisco, the earliest they have Bjoern Werner (Kirwan's pick) picked is at #17 by the Steelers. Is there something I'm missing? I thought that Werner was regarded as the one the safest picks in this draft.
