And then the inevitable happens, good players do poorly at the combines and bad players to well so you have to compensate, moving players up and down draft boards... Some players will amaze us with their Wonderlic scores. Others will amaze us that they can even tie their own shoes after their Wonderlic scores, and again, draft boards will have to be adjusted... Some players will show in their interviews that they are proven leaders with admirable work ethics and diligent study habits, while others will be arrested for drug possession and DUIs and again, draft boards will have to be adjusted.... And after all that hard work and study, the actual draft will happen and we'll all see the all the predictions and prognostications were just wild *** guesses. :) But I do respect you guys like, JeanPierre, Hagen and others that study it and keep the rest of us informed on the possibilities. Thanks for that. |

This thread is on sticky ground.
Masturbation and talks of premature study. You are all sick, im off to start my cheat sheets for fantasy football. |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
We use the blueprint from last season and take the same approach... CB in Free Agency... Safety first round of the draft here's my guy..... |

The fun some of us have in discussing prospects is to watch the tone and trend of the thread change through the process and even to revisit some years later... You really shouldn't take out your frustration, whether caused by Bama's total collapse this season or some other personal issues your faced, on those of us who enjoy year round draft talk; if you don't like the discussion, fine, don't participate nor troll with unnecessary vitriol... Judging by the way you tend to go after people online here, I'd say you should take a break here and think about what you want to accomplish here... Maybe you should take your act over to the Seattle Websites and other adversaries of the Saints and continue your trolling there... Try to have a better day and a better time among Saints fans... |

Playing mediator..
Danno - Some people enjoy poles, power rankings, some love endless draft or playoff scenarios, some people do not care for masturbation... its a mixed bag here and no one forces anyone to go into any threads and read them. JP - While the bold is annoying, your posts are coherent and tend to lack the negative despair that a good many do. You both have valid points and some whiny one also :) One thing I did think of yesterday when I was running through this thread is while the thread has plenty of content for present and future use. As soon as free agency starts the Poll will be obsolete unless there is an option to change the voting. If we pick up a Center in FA that will change the dynamic of our draft. http://hurleymediation.files.wordpre...ple-100810.jpg |

Jarvis Landry - i stand buy what i said. he is the best well rounded WR coming out of college. I see a lot of Anquan Boldin in his game. |

Haha yes I am kind of a Homer but for some reason I really like the athleticism and quick instincts I see in Ryan Shazier. He is a big hitter too. He can really improve our defense

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
The sucky part about being a good team is not being able to grab a top ten pick every once in a while...
LB Khalil Mack looks to be a BEAST... But I'd rather reload than do a Ditka in the draft... Usually don't like the risk/gamble of a cornerback in the first round, but really like how CB Justin Gilbert, OK St, could add/complement our squad... |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Rams want out of No. 2...
Would it be worth the move up to grab OT Jake Matthews?!? |
2014 NFL Draft
Hagan and jeanpierre, I want your opinions on something. Of course we don't know what will happen in free agency, but if Vic Beasley and Kyle Van Noy are both available when we pick and we still have a need at OLB... Which one would y'all rather we draft? I've read countless mock drafts and those two seem to be the most common picks for us. I'm leaning towards Van Noy because of his abilities in coverage and he can play ILB if needed.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft

He's the same guy we have in Junior Galette from what I've seen with maybe a slightly higher ceiling; he doesn't warrant a selection by the Saints... Van Noy is one of those guys who's got the film but GM's may be afraid to pull the trigger in the first or upper second round because he doesn't have those combine measurables to reinforce, explain the argument for selection... I've always preferred Sammy Knights vs Reynaldo Turnbulls; just gotta see where a prospect can apply his gifts to the game to give him an edge; rather have a guy that makes plays with his smarts and pushing his talents every week to the extreme than wasted "potential"... If he's there in the third round, I'd strongly consider Van Noy; but where we'll be picking in the third - he should be gone and really like a couple of safeties grading in the second round to transition from the Harper/Jenkins experiment that has failed miserably and to complement Kenny Vaccaro and Rafael Bush so that we shore up the backstop... For me, those big gashing plays are still fresh in my mind... |

besides after todays game i think we have LOT. |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft

that bring us to Van. i like him a bit better as a steady player. he is hard to judge because like Beasley when he played top competition he kinda disappeared. if i had to pick from only these two i would cross my fingers and go with Von. reason versatility and pass coverage skills. there are others i would look at in round one. FS jumps out at me along with OLB. we need to get bigger and fast. |
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
secondary help that can catch and turn and look for a ball thrown their way
|
Re: 2014 NFL Draft
We are all here talking about drafting defensive players when really it's our offense that needs help.

lamo you saw what i saw today. white definitely need to work on reading the wr and reacting. i really like White in the slot and i think that is where he belongs. remember injury is the only reason he is outside. there are some good CB in the draft but tackling is often over looked. look at day 2 and three for so,e really nice CB to draft and develop and have shown great promise with improvement of there over all game this year. |

Id also love to see some offensive line upgrades and some Lb upgrades but secondary is my biggest need IMHO |

The next pick Morgan Moses, also address the Ol and it's present day depth as well as looking to the future for new starters. i now i am beating my drum for this kid but to get a RT that has the ability to play LT if needed is a glaring need. That was Streifs job before he became a starter and the saints have not found a player to take that role. I really think he will stand out at the combine. ROT that can has the quickness of a OG when pulling? not bad. i rate him as one of the better gambles in the draft. Both player come from teams that require blocking at the second level, pulling and screen blocking. Both are probably among the best at playing on the move. run blocking is not an issue and both are solid pass blockers also. with them the saints would get immediate upgrade for team speed and athleticism on the OL. with both picks you might have the future replacement to go with Armstead. WR is an issue plus a blocking TE would help. god knows Graham is one of the worse blocking TE in the NFL. |
