Scouting Notebook: Matt Miller's Final Team-by-Team Reports, Jared Goff Q&A | Bleacher Report
"In talking to sources on the coaching staff in New Orleans, it's apparent the team wants to get bigger at defensive tackle and beef up against the run. Sheldon Rankins in Round 1 and a wide receiver in Round 2 is the current "best guess" from coaches. I was told by a Saints scout that there was a big debate on Robert Nkemdiche and to not rule him out in Round 1." |

You cannot deny the raw talent and ability of Nkemdiche however do we have the staff to "coach him up"?? Since we rolled the dice on Fairley, I wouldn't rule out Nkemdiche or Spence at 12. Two more days until the draft .. two more days :-D. |

EJW does not think we will get Rankins. For our sake, I hope he is gone before we pick.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
I'm going to go over the CBs and Ss. Probably will lump them together(that is CB and FS). Since they can play either position.
|
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
I would rather have Austin Johnson in the 2nd and take DJ Reader in the 5th to shore up the middle.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Only did those that could go rounds 1 and 2 out of the big six.
1. He didn't look all that great against Bama but in many ways especially in conference play Bama is a anomaly. However, he looked great vs Ole Miss so much that he was not even matched up with Treadwell. 2. He got beat on a big TD, which is concerning. However, we was used as a DE/CB as well. I don't rank him ahead of Hargreaves. 3. It's a bit of a drop-off after this. Jackson's flaw is once in space he can't tackle. Otherwise he had two picks in this clip and that's something we could use. He got beat on a big catch by Wilson earlier but redeemed himself later against the same receiver. 4. This is someone who will not be able to be a outside CB in the NFL. He has to be converted to safety or nickle. 5. Don't like this at all. But it's better than his teammate. Decent but nothing great. 6. Just no, he looks out of place for a CB and he lost the one on one battle with Fuller, who I don't see being anything special in the pros. He allowed shorter catches but allowing catches period was our problem last year. He just does not stand out to me at all. Draft Round 1-Ramsey Round 1-Hargreaves Round 1-Jackson Round 1 or 2-Apple if converted Do Not Draft Round 2-Green Round 1or 2-Alexander |

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Pivotal player for the Saints in this draft will be RB Ezekiel Elliott; if the buckeye somehow is selected before we pick at twelve, we could see either Jack, Bosa or Buckner fall to us assuming Goff, Wentz go in the top two...
If it's Jack, I trade out and let the demand give us leverage to gain a modest cache in picks... I'd probably do the same with Bosa, I'm not sold on him either... Now if it's Buckner, that'd be a tough decision... And then there's the Tennessee Titans who may want to move up and take Conklin or Stanley to protect Mariota's blind-side, and they're second and third round picks are going to be at the top of those rounds... Whatever the case, don't let Loomis do the negotiations, he gives it up like Becky Rottincrotch... |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Coaches and scouts from the Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and Denver Broncos were on hand at Florida Atlantic for the workout of German receiver Moritz Boehringer and once again he impressed future employers.
Boehringer ran an unscripted positional workout where teams requested certain routes during the workout and Boehringer obliged. He not only caught the ball well but absorbed the requests and easily ran the route tree asked of him. Just like his initial pro-day on March 31st, Boehringer looked very natural. He had one-on-one interviews with all the teams in attendance beforehand. Boehringer has five team visits starting this weekend and will be on the road starting tomorrow until April 20th. Those on hand were also very complimentary of Jacoby Brissett, telling me the North Carolina State quarterback threw the ball well. Source: http://www.draftinsider.net/blog/ |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Fingers crossed its a pass rusher and/or run stuffer at pick #12.
|
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Carolina could be getting Treadwell or Thomas with their first pick.
If we let them get the german guy I'm going to be pissed. The defensive teams are starting to load up on offense and that is a scary thing. |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Cant see Treadwell being on the board unless they move yp

I don't know. Durability is a real concern. Some guys want healthy Jack for 15 seasons. Other guys are fine with 7 years from him. These days people retire even if they are healthy and have more years left at the high level. Ray Lewis career? I don't think we will see that very often in the future. I'm fine with Jack #12. |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
If he does not play this year?^
|
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Gotta feeling those that pass on MJ may end up paying the price.
If your doctor isn't all that concerned, select him. Top 5 talent. |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Well if he breaks down this year we better get someone in 2 that can contribute. I'm already scared of the receivers dropping passes.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Twas the night before the draft, and throughout the board
Not a poster was posting Nay, nary a word Their hopes were all hanging on "finding a good fit" Whilst visions of trade backs seemed pretty legit Yeah I don't know about the rest of you, but this has definitely become my new Christmas eve in my adult years. Lol how many of us actually end up with the present we want though, right? I think Lawson ends up being the pick. With Rankins and Treadwell being pretty good possibilities as well... And I'm still saying I won't be shocked if we take Lynch. Definitely not what I'm hoping for, but if it happens I think I can cope with it... Here's hoping that whoever he is, and whatever he does, he ends up being the best at it..or at least one of em. |

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Sure would like to trade some assets as we did last season and pick up another 3-4-5 round pick(s)...
They're at least two mid round prospects who could have an immediate impact for us and develop into ProBowl starters within three years... |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Im still of the opinion trading this years third and next years second to jump back into the 2nd this year and take another DT. There will be first round talent in the first half of the second round this year
|
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Lee...
You're going to see third round tackles in the fifth round this year, not sure the bang will be worth the buck... For me it's about investment vs snap count... Just don't see drafting two-down run stuffers with a first or high second round pick... For my money, I want a guy who can play three downs, run and pass... |
