Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Wow, if Bosa or Buckner fell to us - now that would be something... The G'nats are reloaded on the defensive line... The Jags just committed a ton of money in Malik Jackson et al... The Cowboys are loaded up front, have need at both QB and at DB... The Ravens need to shore up their offensive line after free agency... The Rams, Eagles, 49ers need a quarterback... So a top five player could fall... Now, someone could try to jump us at 12 with da Bears... Yeah, Hagan said we could end up having some serious leverage... |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Well now Demarcus Lawrence will be suspended 4 games joining Randy Gregory... I think we can count on the Cowboys grabbing Buckner at this point.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
My surprise pick at 12 is Jack Conklin OT/OG Michigan State. With the depth of defensive linemen in the draft the Saints could get DE/DT in the 2nd and 3rd that generally would be picked in the first. That would shore up the o-line for years to come. We need Drew standing up.

It has always amazed me how self-centered some of these draft picks are and how incredulous they come off when fans and teams are not tolerable of those selfish players who put their needs of being comfortably numb over the team's success...

New Draft Order Up To The Saints...
1 Los Angeles Rams 2 Philadelphia Eagles 3 San Diego Chargers 4 Dallas Cowboys 5 Jacksonville Jaguars 6 Baltimore Ravens 7 San Francisco 49ers 8 Cleveland Browns 9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10 New York Giants 11 Chicago Bears 12 New Orleans Saints There's some real potential for some lasting schädenfreude with this latest trade.. Chip Kelly had given away talent these last few years and now the Eagles traded the ability to restock that talent... And the quarterback will have the distinction of being No. 2 in the draft - not exactly the best track record in recent NFL drafts... Of course, the Browns are the Browns so they still may not have acquired enough picks to overcome their ineptness... Couldn't happen to two of the finer a$$hole teams in the NFL... |

I was expecting to go back to 4-3 with Allen |

Jarran Reed, DT/NT/DE, Alabama 6034 307
makes no difference what you run. 34 or 43 he can handle both DT and NT and excel at either one. Chris Jones straight up DT in a 43 or a DE in a 34. besides where did he disappear to till the end of the season when draft chatter started up. |

Based on what Coach Payton stated in interviews during the off-season after the Laurinaitis signing and subsequent re-assignment of linebacker rolls... Payton said that Kikaha would primarily be rushing the passer as opposed to playing an OLB in space; in fact, in one NOLA.com interview he referred to Kikaha in a "jack" type role and moving Cam Jordan back to a true end... Based on that, I set up a depth chart, with possible gap assignments based on the personnel we have and where they've historically played or where Coach stated they might play (based on the aforementioned interview(s))... So that's why the depth chart alignment looks as it does... As some other members have mentioned, Hagan, Danno et al, we'll be running more a 4-3- under, with the "jack" almost exclusively assigned to pass rusher duties, with the occasional surprise drop back into coverage... |

Again, per PFF, among others, State's Chris Jones had highest pass rush ratings among defensive linemen - that makes him a three down player in my book which is a big box to check and clear when selecting with a first round pick... |

Why Joey Bosa spent his final Ohio State season in solitude Mr. Bosa has recommitted himself, appears even more disciplined and is ready to play football 24/7 at the next level. If he is still on the board @ 4, the people up here in Death Star nation would be foolish not to draft him. |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
So I'm going to say this. The rounds after the first two is what scares me. I'm still on the 2012 draft and other than Jairus Wright noboody drafted late as a receiver has panned out from this draft. And guards also I have found no one successful drafted late. MY computer restarted so the notepad that had the copy and pasted links did not get saved.

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
I think Noah Spence is the choice.

Now, Re: "And guards also I have found no one successful drafted late"... I'll just keep hammering this point about the Saints and drafting offensive linemen - Jahri Evans (4th round), Zach Strief (7th round), Carl Nicks (5th round), Jermon Bushrod (4th round), Terron Armstead (3rd round)... Armstead wasn't a top 75 pick (76th actually)... Charles Brown (2nd round), Andy Alleman (3rd round)... So I'd relax if we don't have an offensive lineman until Day 3... |

Well that helps but I'm just looking for what measurables they have to have. It appears olinemen with a high number of bench presses are the way to go. I saw a difference between Zeiffert and his teammate from Wisconsin in regards to this. The teammate is not on an active roster. |

He is not fast He is not quick He is not strong He is not big He can not cover He can not set the edge He is not a first round pick He is a media diva that is nothing more than a one trick pony with a huge monkey on his back. Even then his pony is a toy pony. Even without the monkey he is a third round talent at best with a steep learning curve. In 3 years you might have something to work with. That if he is not "X" out sitting in a corner somewhere. |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

Saying the same thing earlier - We have Kikaha, Tull and Edebali...give them a chance this season to contribute and then if it's not there, go out and get some new faces on the edge... Getting a new "X" receiver to replace Colston, shoring up the offensive and defensive line(s), getting another DB for safety or another CB to allow Swann to shift to FS/SS should be the priorities... I'd even trade Keenan Lewis should a CB like P.J. or a draft pick (e.g. Kalan Reed) ably complement Del Breaux; get that cap back under control and fiscally manage it better... |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Corey Coleman or Josh Dotson would be better choices for me at WR.
|
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

No way does he fall out of the top 15 IMO. It also would floor me to hear his name before we even pick. Talent is there but this is a great draft for him. this is the slower than molasses draft at WR. |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Just watch the film of Laquon Treadwell; watch the film...
|
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
I remember reading an article by the Advocate (can't find it at the moment) on Sean P stating how he wants to take the top off the opposing defense (ala Meachem & Devery days).
I just don't see how Treadwell fills that void and is part of our plans on draft day. |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Quote:
I hadn't watched any tape on him, since WR really didn't seem like such a big need to me, but decided to give his film a shot and... He does seem like a really good possession receiver and eerily similar to what the Saints had in Colston. He does seem to move surprisingly well for his frame, and the straight-line speed doesn't really deter me, since Colston was never a burner himself. So, I wouldn't be upset if the Saints were to pick him at 12 if he happened to still be available. |
Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............
Quote:
When the field gets short, the big defensive backs will smother Cooks, Smead; and that's where you come back with Treadwell... And Laquon is going to win those battles out of the gate as a rookie... |
