Bengals will not draft Treadwell though I don't think and it would be stupid if they did. They already have a number 1.

I have a feeling the Cows will target Bosa @ #4. Kind of surprised they signed Alfred Morris ... thought they had an eye on RB Ezekiel Elliot.

Interesting draft approaching.

Okay, probably getting a little ahead, but with having Fairley under contract soon (e.g. initially I had Malik Jackson signing in mind)...

The flexibility of the signing makes the draft I had in mind still viable and at the end of the day, we roll with Coach Payton and offense...

Quote:

Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville: There aren't many one-gap pass-rush tackles in the draft, but Rankins is one of them, and he's being projected as a top 12-15 pick. His combine performance was excellent, which only improved his stock. However, his lack of bulk and inconsistent ability to shed better blockers inside make him a liability as an every-down player. Good coaching should help him improve in this area, and maybe he will become a constant threat to the quarterback. But he's really a better value in the late-first/early second round than he is in the top half of Round 1.

A'Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama: It was a tough ask for a college lineman to move Robinson off the ball, and he had enough athleticism to make plays against lesser competition. But he plays too upright, which will make life difficult for him when he meets veteran NFL offensive linemen with experience staying low and playing with leverage. Will he be a strong rotational player who can eat up space and challenge linemen? Yes. Will he be the sort of difference-maker (especially rushing the pass) expected by teams and fans if picked in the top 15 overall? Not unless he plays lower and has his motor running hot on every play.
Overrated?

I'm really starting to think none of the DT's in this draft are top 20 prospects. If the Nick Fairley signing is indeed imminent and doesn't fall through then I don't want want to reach on any DT at 12. There will be way too many available in the second round. Gotta snag an every down DE to pair with Jordan in the first round... Or Treadwell.

On a similar note, I'm starting to think that none of the OG's in the draft are immediate starters. The top 3 guards according to Walter Football all struggle with pass protection, and we all know that for Brees, pass protection up the middle is actually more essential than protection from the LT position.

well if that's the case, draft a tweener OT and slide him at guard. Worked with Evans and Nicks so I'm fine with trying it again

Yeah both Alexander from LSU and the guy from Kansas played OT in college but are projected as guards in the nfl. I hope we can strike magic again with one of the top 3 prospects.

I really like two in this draft as projects

PHYSICAL SCALE
Le'Raven Clark is a 10
Willie Beavers 7

Pro ready SCALE
Willie Beavers 7
Le'Raven Clark is a 4

R2 - Le'Raven Clark has everything you are looking for in a OT/OG physically. Coming from a spread offense his skill sets screams round 4/5. This kid needs some serious coaching but if you want a something pretty you could not ask for more. Huge Boom-or-Bust in round 2. Looks pretty all dressed up but stripped down there are some issues. Round 4 or better yet 5, sure, but round 2? heck of a gamble. Right now he is a media diva

Le'Raven Clark 6052 316
Hands 11 7/8
Arms 36 1/8
40 5.12
20 2.99
10 1.80
3 Cone
20 Shuttle
Bench 18
Vertical 30
Broad 9' 01"

R5 - Willie Beavers small DIII school player is fundamentally sound needs some coaching and playing time but the skill set is there for a 5th rounder. The issue would arise that he has a solid chance of becoming starting LT in the NFL in a few years. So why he is getting up to speed, OG might be a good place to start. Beavers may have what it takes to be a OT in this league but I see a zone OG with huge up side. Needs coaching but two years down the road he should be ready to go. Pro bowl caliber? maybe just maybe. solid starter I would think so.

Willie Beavers OT/OG 6045 321
Hands 9 1/2
Arms 33 1/2
40 5.28
20 3.02
10 1.81
3 Cone 7.75
20 Shuttle 4.71
Bench 20
Vertical 25 1/2
Broad 8' 07"

If I were to go developmental OL at the end of day 2 or at the beginning of day 3 I can live with the gamble.

The five best offensive linemen we've drafted during the Payton era were drafted in the fourth round (Jahri Evans), seventh round (Zach Strief), fourth round (Jermon Bushrod), fifth round (Carl Nicks), fourth round (Jermon Bushrod) and third round (Terron Armstead); and only Armstead was a Top 75 pick - in fact, he was the 75th pick of the draft...

Charles Brown (round 2), Andy Alleman (round 3) were second day picks...

We need to draft the best available player when it's our selection irregardless of Brees and his window...

Right now with the miami now picking behind us I can only see the Raiders as possible trade back partners. 12 to 14 could net us an additional 4th (114) and 5th (143). Both teams have CB high on there needs list. This could be a huge small trade down for the saints

Tread definitely fits the mold of Alshon Jeffries. Not a burner but super strong and is able to fight off defenders for the ball in tight windows.

Brees, you really think Myles Jack is making it out of the top 10, especially past the Ravens?!?

If we got Vernon Butler in the second round (don't think he's making it at all out of the first round), I'd be in Farmer Fran mode through training camp...

Really like McGovern; looks like a nasty version of Jahri Evans...

Deion Jones seems a little too light and wasn't as fast at his pro day...

I know this mock is unrealistic. This was CBS database on fanspeak on the clock simulator.

I agree on Jack and Butler. Jack sure is top 10 pick and Butler probably late 1st round selection or early second.
Now I hear that Mayock will put Keanu Neal in top 5 safeties group. lol

That is a killer! looks like he will be there at 12 for sure now. He is out of top 10. 33-inch vertical? and they say white men can not jump! But his game tape is so good....

Looks like the winner in this years beauty pageant will be Josh Doctson. His stock just jumped big time.

The question is do you draft

Treadwell a bully WR that can dominate outside the hashes

or

Doctson who is fast, sneaky quick, dominate in between the hashes and up the seem?

stray thought - Doctson is looking mighty good especially if we can trade back and pocket a pick or two. Actual starting to think the combo of Doctson and Cooke might be more productive. That is a lot speed darting around in the hashes to cover. I can see them freeing each other up all over the field.

Then again a steady Freddie for Drew is always abused in our system.

As time goes on I am getting down the Cook pick. Nothing to with his talent it's more to do with not fitting in with the pieces we have on hand at WR.

Myles will be gone before they serve him his first drink in the green room.

I do think Vernon is a day 2 selection, although some scouts project him as a late 1st round selection.

This is true...but...

Unless Philly or Los Angeles jumps up in the top three and snags a quarterback...

Starting to think Dallas will take a quarterback...whether they have to offer a counter deal or trust the top order stays and take one at their pick...

Two things that Jerry Jones covets: Head Coach Sean Payton and Quarterback Drew Brees...

QB Jared Goff is the closest thing to Drew Brees in some drafts...

Tony Romo hasn't been able to finish a complete season and has injuries that have him already in a fragile state...

Cowboys have a terrific defensive line; though I could see taking Bosa or Buckner and shipping off a veteran DE for a second or third round pick...

There's no way in today's NFL teams should be taking RBs in the first round; there's way to much wear and tear going on and it's not just the Saints that have learned to find UDRFA RBs...

Kinda expect either the Rams (now going to Los Angeles, need a splash) or the Eagles from pick 8 (need a quarterback to advance in the playoffs) to make a move and jump to the top of the first round and grab an elite...

If they don't, the Cowboys will be hard-pressed to pass on a quarterback who could be needed to start games for them by mid-season with a fragile Romo; they were a tough out last year, even without a quarterback...

FIFY

Let's see Vincent Jackson or Jerry Rice - 22,895 career rec yds (4.71 secs), Tim Brown career rec 14,934 yds (4.78 sec 40, with wind)...

This is what many of us said would happen who were critical of moving up in the draft to take Cooks...

That will not happen with Treadwell; this is a first class man with a top flight ability to just making freaking plays, money plays...

I just hope the Master of Quan is there when we pick and der Kommissar is holding up that New Orleans Black and Gold Jersey No. 1 on Treadwell...

Disclaimer: Absolutely love Brandin Cooks and what he brings and how he brings it, just illustrating he's not a perfect receiver in certain situations...

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

ok lets go with BPA at 12 then. Not needs or draft history based.

Let Ingram start at one goal line and PT start at the other. When they crash at mid field and the dust settles you have.

Ezekiel Elliott RB OSU 5115 225 4.47

Right now I am leaning this way.

We have need at RB and we all now Ingram is odds on favorite behind Byrd not to play 16 games

hagan714 03-30-2016 06:28 AM

Re: 2016 NFL Draft Prospect Thread ...............

Treadwell as a steady Freddie for Drew would not bother me one bit. On the bright side of things that 40 times opens a window to trade down a bit get a few picks and still have an honest shot at getting Treadwell. If by chance the gamble does not pay off Josh Doctson could be the other option out there.

Either way Treadwell or Doctson and a gamble trading down and adding picks just looks better and better with each passing day. I now have the best bet to trade up and get ahead of the dolphins is the raiders. Target CB. that is just a move from 12 to 14 and we could get 2 additional picks. end of day 2 and the start of day 3.

If the football gods do not deal us habd from the bottom of the deck, I call it a win win.
