next 3 picks are way too risky and pretty much a big reach in my opinion. By a complete round. draft a 3rd in the 2nd? and so on. but it does look like a saints draft Quote:
Quote:
Shaq is top 5 for safe gamble picks but with the Rams trade and the team now loaded with picks right behind us I can see more leap frogging up and down round 1 yet to come. Just hope we are in the mix and a trade down is possible and grab some additional picks. Austin Johnson has always been a fav. he is the next Jarren Reed at DT his game speed and effort make the combine a mute point. Both are under valued, more upside as pass rushers than they are given credit for. Johnson has a clean rap sheet also unlike Reed who has had a few issues. He is as safe a pick in the 2nd as you can find. Cody Whitehair in the 3rd? some one is really missing the boat. better yet standing at the dock a day late with this one Joe Dahl is a player that if he drops into your lap in the 5th then make the move. He is not an over reach for player in my book. not bad but in the fourth they will be better options on the board. Quote:
Shaq Lawson hands down over this kid. His interviews have to be mind blowing for me to even consider him in the 3rd. |

With that said, i'd love to trade back in the first, even out of the first round to gain additional picks in the 2nd & 3rd & a 1st next year. Thats really where the meat of the draft is. I dont consider talent at 12 to be that much greater than talent at the end of the 2nd/early 3rd. Im thinking Chess not checkers. Saints still have holes & the schedule isn't going to be a cake walk. |

This team is anemic on defense and unfortunately we aren't close to sniffing a championship this season. If he is still on the board by round 3 (highly unlikely he is still here), draft him. I keep hearing that the draft is all about the future, no ? |

He'll probably end up on a squad with a solid defensive roster ... Arizona, Seattle, Denver or a team with a ton of draft picks like the Titans (6 picks within the first 3 rounds).

While I don't always drink the PFF cool aid, this article does a very good job explaining defensive line alignment and assignments in the FBS and NFL game today...
https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...ckle-position/ Just throwing top ranked players at the first two rounds by default won't guarantee success or a turnaround in our defensive line play... Don't agree that Sheldon Rankins will have the success in the NFL as he has flashed at Louisville or at the offseason draft process, because his limited size... Having the right players in the right assignments with the right skill set should be paramount, and this article illustrates that point and can help give a better understanding going into the draft... The article may be restricted to membership, but it's a very good read... https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...ckle-position/ |

Myles Jack - medical concerns even after the rechecks. still no running appears to be an issue also. so
1. Los Angeles Rams (7-9) - Jared Goff - home town sell them tickets pick 2. Cleveland Browns (3-13) - Joey Bosa - another home town ticket selling pick 3. San Diego Chargers (4-12) - Laremy Tunsil 4. Dallas Cowboys (4-12) - Jalen Ramsey 5. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11) - DeForest Buckner Philadelphia trade with Baltimore - 6. Philadelphia Eagles (7-9) - Carson Wentz 7. San Francisco 49ers (5-11) - Ronnie Stanley 8. Baltimore Ravens (5-11) - Vernon Hargreaves III 9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-10) - Sheldon Rankins 10. New York Giants (6-10) - Ezekiel Elliott 11. Chicago Bears (6-10) - Shaq Lawson 12. New Orleans Saints (7-9) - still thing the saints will get trade down offer from teams wanting to jump ahead of Miami who will almost definitely with great probability go CB. |

If no one falls into our laps at 12
1 Laremy Tunsil 2 Jalen Ramsey 3 Joey Bosa 4 Jared Goff 5 DeForest Buckner 6 Carson Wentz 7 Ezekiel Elliott 8 Ronnie Stanley 9 Shaq Lawson 10 Laquon Treadwell Sorry JP Treadwell going to the giants makes a ton of sense to me. Reaching for a player to fill a need makes makes no sense to me at 12. Even a DT. Not in this draft. Not if you can additional picks. Which in this draft would be huge IMO. Key is not to drop below 17. Atlanta Falcons, unless some one is really ready to over pay. At 16 the saints can fill the areas of need with good players still on the board, ie DT and WR. |

Latest "Mock" Draft report from Charlie and Walts ...
Mods - please delete if this is a repeat post. walterfootball.com Rd. 1, Pk. 12 Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State Many expect the Saints to go defense here, and they very well could. However, it shouldn't stun anyone if New Orleans selects an offensive lineman like Jack Conklin. The team has a major whole in the inside of the blocking unit, which is problematic because the Saints greatly value interior blocking. Rd. 2, Pk. 16 Andrew Billings, DT/NT, Baylor We all know how bad New Orleans' secondary is, but part of the problem is that the team hasn't gotten any sort of push up front. It's especially dire at defensive tackle, where 80-year-old Kevin Williams was the team's best player last year. Something absolutely needs to be done about that. Rd. 3, Pk. 15 Jason Fanaika, DE, Utah The Saints can continue to upgrade their horrible defensive line, as they really don't have any edge rushers of note after Cameron Jordan. In a division comprised of Cam Newton, Matt Ryan and Jameis Winston, New Orleans will have to improve its ability to get to the quarterback. Rd. 4, Pk. 14 Deiondre' Hall, CB, Northern Iowa The Saints have to bolster their secondary. Knowing Brandon Browner, he'll still be penalized even though he's not on the team. Rd. 5, Pk. 13 Connor Wujciak, DT, Boston College It shouldn't be surprising if the Saints double up at defensive tackle in the 2016 NFL Draft, considering their dire need at the position. Charlies Rd. 1, Pk. 12 Shaq Lawson, DE/3-4OLB, Clemson image: http://walterfootball.com/college/Clemson_logo.gif The Saints cut Junior Galette and still need a replacement. Lawson could form a dangerous pass rush with Cam Jordan and Hau'Oli Kikaha. While teams have told me they gave Lawson a second-day grade, in speaking with a variety of teams they think that Lawson could be a mid- to late first-rounder. Rd. 2, Pk. 16 Austin Johnson, DT/3-4DE/NT, Penn State The 6-foot-4, 314-pounder produced a quality season for Penn State in 2015. Johnson was a tough defender at the point of attack with 78 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss and 6.5 sacks. At the Senior Bowl, Johnson had a quality week, though he wasn't overly impressive. Rd. 3, Pk. 15 Cody Whitehair, G, Kansas State Whitehair (6-3, 300) played left tackle for the Wildcats, but he should move to guard in the NFL. Oklahoma State defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah illustrated that. Whitehair also could use more power for the next level, but he is a good technician who is a reliable blocker. Rd. 4, Pk. 14 Joe Dahl, G/OT, Washington State Dahl broke into the lineup as a sophomore starter at guard, but he played left tackle for Washington State in his final two seasons. In the Cougars' offense, Dahl got a lot of preparation for blocking in pass protection on the edge. Read more at WalterFootball.com - New Orleans Saints __________________ Oh God, can\'t this town go one day without a riot? Mayor Joe Quimby. \"Ah the Luftwaffe, the Washington Generals of the History Channel.\"HJ Simpson --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I could live with those two picks (Conklin and Big Boy Billings) if it happens next week. |

give me the one year wonder Shaq Lawson over him all day long. solid against the run and still learning to pass rush. Noah can wide all game long and get shoved out of the play 90% of the time just like tiny little Jr. just say no to one trick ponies. |
