By going to this alignment with the rumored Fairley signing, you can see we don't look as terribly thin as before...

We also minimize the needs for our defense in the upcoming 2016 draft - allowing us more flexibility and not having to tip in our hand in our selections...

Just hoping Fairley can, wait for it, be all he can be...

Should Nick Fairley be signed, he could still play a 3-tech, but as a 3-4 DE. Wouldn't that be interesting?!?

Note: The Graphic is confusing but the "S" lined up over the 3-tech DE and the Jack LBer would be the Sam LBer

Don't be surprised to see Ireland pick up a cornerback in the 4th or 5th rounds in next's month draft. The depth chart at the position is concerning.

I am sticking with S/CB hybrids day 2 and 3. One of the best drafts for those in a few years. kill two birds one stone. add 2 and kill 4 birds with 2 stones.

SS is screaming at me. WEAK SPOT!! Then again it could just be my echo from the pass few years

Yeah, but we've got Kenny V, Vinnie Sunseri and Erik Harris; so if we get Sua Cravens, where's he gonna play?!? Cut Sunseri?!? Trade Kenny V?!?

Not one of these guys has job security in my book. I would not let Kenny hold us hostage in FA. let him walk and take the comp pick if he thinks he all that great as a Safety. I can not wait to get from underneath Byrds contract. This is a good deep year to add some serious depth upgrades in the secondary. Let the back ups slug it out. plenty of room for healthy upgrades. At least some that will a bigger impact on special teams while waiting for annual IR bug land. Start grooming replacements now.

We now have some room for a Terron Armstead extension as well as for a first round draft pick (remaining picks will not count as their alloted amount will not be among the Top 51 earners)...

Or perhaps we can take a look at adding C/G Stefen Wisniewski?!?

Defensive Needs for the Draft

Note: Still don't know what we have at cornerback though safety has need with Raphael Bush departure; would like to draft a big, physical defensive back who could provide versatility as a press cornerback on taller receivers or flow to safety for us...

Note: Still need a big inside defensive linemen to help collapse the pocket...

Note: Could use a weakside/middle linebacker for coverage - Nick Vigil comes to mind...

Note: Could we float Damian Swann over as a centrefielder free safetey?!? Some have suggest P.J. but scouts had Swann as a safety candidate...

Offensive Needs For Draft

Note: Sean Payton's New Orleans Saints roll with Offense.

Note: There's no way Payton goes into the season with this very thin WR corps...

Note: The Fleener signing addresses team's ability to climb and convert 3rd downs and red zone opportunities, but it does not solve that inability...

Note: Saints can't move towards a power run game with at least one unanswered hole at guard and a coach that has Brees...

Note: While we have good depth with Hill and Hoomanawanui, we still don't have a big, physical all-around tight end; and Fleener is more of a wide receiver than TE...

We do normally wait until the last minute to do these things. Galette was a real head-scratching anomaly. I wouldn't expect an Armstead extension to get done until next February.

Armstead will be twenty-five when the season begins, entering his prime, rather than established in it...

He hasn't garnered any All-Pro recognition and was just a Pro-Bowl alternate...

I'd rather negotiate his deal now, before, all those accolades come down...

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

I'm posting this here for one reason: we have 2 left tackles. Look, I love Armstead as much as anyone and I'd hate to see him leave us... But he's entering his contract year and we could possibly work a trade for as high as a 2nd round pick. What do you think?

No freaking way I part with Armstead for anything less than a first rounder; secondly, we've still don't know what we have in Andrus Peat; third, we have the potential to have two terrific bookends in Armstead and Peat with two division foes (Carolina and Tampa) with formidable defensive fronts; fourth, you'd really be thin with Peat/Strief, short one starting guard, one guard who's not made the leap in pass protection (Lelito) and an invested (trade) All-Pro Center in Unger, who's not under contract after the season - that could be one hot mess, real fast...

I would never trade Armstead for anything less than two firsts and a second. He is the best LT in the NFL right now.

Yeah, I'd hate to lose him. Maybe if Mo Wilkerson was part of the deal then we could talk lol.

If there was no broken leg, that'd be one helluva dilemma...

With at least seven roster spots of need, don't see us moving up in the draft, combining draft picks...
