Believe it or not boys and girls but I think we may have the best secondary in the league this year and with Fairley and another top DT in the draft we could be top 10 and if our offense stays in the top 5 we'll be hell to contend with for 4 quarters. WHO DAT!

Players I'll be watching this season ...

Spiller - should 100% by the start of TC & hopefully Byrd becomes the ballhawk we all know he is capable of... especially with added help (JL, Robertson, St. Nick & a possible defensive stud on the line or coming off the edge).

Lastly, PJ Williams- should be healthy and able to showcase his talents. As other posters have already stated, it's like getting an extra 3rd rd draft pick in 2016.

Unless he has a ProBowl year, I'd agree that he's gone...

Don't be surprised if he is giving average play that some of the other safeties shift over and relieve Byrd...

He's never stepped up and should never have seen that kinda contract...

Yes, A'Shawn, Fairley and the rest would be able to kill the middle 95% of the time and you say you wouldn't want that? Reed and Cam and a host of others would definitely be able to take care of the edges.

Hell last year we couldn't kill the middle 5% of the time. Everyone always wanting all or nothing. Why not really improve what we have and stop trying to be perfect with every move we make. It only sets us up for failure and pisses the fans off.

Cher, our biggest problem last season was that we were 31st in passing defense...31st...

That means we need to rush the passer and stop the big passing plays...

No question we need interior pass rushers as we had rookie pass rushers (e.g. Kikaha, Tull) and we failed to use Kikaha late in the season when Dennis Allen took over and went nearly exclusively to a 4-3 front cause that's all he knows...

If we're going to take a defensive linemen in the first round, he better be a three down linemen, best on the board who can do that and not get stuffed because of his limited size would be Mississippi State's Chris Jones...

We did nothing to address DE. Just have to hope that the boost to the interior pass rush with Fairley and Rankins will help disguise it.

Yeah. Kafusi, Bullard were there in the early third; really liked both for our multi-fronts and could've swap with the Titans, Browns with less minimal damage...

If Payton wanted Bell that badly, wished he'd taken Bell instead of Thomas...

We'd had picks left in the third, fourth; and we could've taken David Onyemata with the fourth and still had two fifth round picks, this year and next...

I have a question JP... Sheldon Rankins played the 5-technique at Louisville so could you see him playing some of that with us? Maybe keep Jordan at the 7/9-technique and have Richardson/Rankins on the strong side.

That's what Payton has said anyway... Onye will be DE in the base package, with Kikaha DE in some sub packages. I wouldn't be surprised to see Onye also play in the inside occasionally
