By my roster count - Offense: 44; Defense: 45; Kicking: 4; we still have at least three people to release or designate with PUP or IR....

Unfortunately, I think those hits affect him worse than the other player. We do need him out there all the time and if not, then we need to find us someone who can be.

Yeah, well, good luck with that...

I think I got one of those we'll let you know when we know responses when I pressed for expected roster update...

Do like I usually do, wait for one of those 3 Day sing-a-longs they do now at the end of May, check out the pics, then update myself...

Good competition for camp. I'm curious to see what A.J. can do in the middle.

Side note - Hagin, you got your man (Klein). I sure hope he brings his A game. James Laurinitus was a disaster in 2016 .

not worried about AJ. he is a motor guy with a good head on his shoulder to take over the middle and get people were they need to be.

I could have sworn that is what coaches were saying about James L last year & also what we were hoping for in Stephone @ year #2 .

I think Anzalone is a great back up to Ellerbe. If we can limit Ellerbe's snaps he might make it through a whole season while Anzalone learns the ropes to take over for him down the road or step in if Ellerbe gets injured.(likely)

In Sean Payton's post draft interview, he stated that he thinks we have a LOT of linebackers with different strengths & we won't be in a bad situation if we lose one or two due to injury. He sounded pretty high on selecting Anzalone & if Ellerbe should beat him out at WLB, they will slide him over to SAM.

Camp will be fierce with competition this year.

Well, just as there are some Sproles-type RBs and Deuce-type RBs and Pierre-type RBs, the same is true with Linebackers...

And because of the different skill-sets we've signed and drafted, we'll scout and put in packages that will help us match better...

So some LBers may see more snaps in games than others, and that will be the nature of Saints Defense moving forward...

Usually you acquire better pass rushers to help your DBs, it seems Payton is trying to improve the DBs and get coverage sacks...

Circling back to the cornerback position ...

On paper we have a lot of cb dept coming to camp that could make some noise but I still believe we could use another (veteran). Lattimore may potentially become the real deal, Breaux will likely be the starter for 2017 & Sterling has a spot here (at least in my mind). Outside of that, I have question marks galore & no one we can count on consistently.

I'd like to see a veteran brought in at camp to "stir the pot".

My problem with bringing in another vet is that that'll be a reduced number of reps for some of the young talent that could use those reps to hone their skills...

What if PJ and/or Swann (fingers crossed they don't) go down? Outside of Breaux & Sterling, not a whole lot of NFL experience on the boundaries. IIRC wasn't Finnegan (played well on short notice) cut in favor of Devante' last camp?

I'd still bring in a vet (McCourty, Verner etc) to push em at camp.

Crawley played in 15 games with five starts his rookie year; it's worth factoring; and I don't think Swann is making this team...

Also, McCourty wouldn't take a paycut from his scheduled 7 mil salary; would he even want to come here to be a backup? Would he take what a backup might make here?

We'll be fine at CB this year. And if another rash of injuries breaks out, then that's on the Saints' Training & Condition program and its partners.

And a CB rotation of Breaux, Lattimore, Williams, Moore, Crawley is probably the best this franchise has ever seen and will likely be among the league best.

Eric Asher was on local radio and rightly questioned, opined that the Saints have made some great changes to the staff, but still haven't addressed training and health with specific criticism of the Ochsner Sports Med partnership...

If we have another outbreak as we've had, really think some significant changes will have to be made...

I thought this was a good read as it related to training and conditioning.

Feeling a lot better about this roster. Better than I have in years. The WR and LB battles going to be intense. Looking like some real surprises will emerge.

I'd still bring in a vet (McCourty, Verner etc) to push em at camp.

Stanley Jean-Baptiste is their oldest cornerback; and I wouldn't consider the Chiefs slouches in the DB department...

We've got some serious talent now at CB and S! Now, what do we have for edge defenders? Well, it's wait & see...

I wouldn't consider SJB a corner. Never saw a player before get so many paychecks for just wearing the right sized jersey...
