Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints

Hagan and I always looked to the occasional Tulane prospect; we're dinosaurs of a by-gone era when Tulane Football was respectable, a tough out...

...he'd be drooling over this guy that I've had in my groupings...

Re: 2018 NFL Draft Prospects - Saints

So I'm really admiring Shaquem Griffin's brave combine performance, then reality sets in for me...

NFL defenses rarely shut down opposing offenses, it's about turnovers, and this is where I'm forseeing a problem for Griffin...

So I go to College Football Reference for his collegiate turnover statistics and I get quite the surprise...

From 2013-2017 (includes a red shirt season where he only played three games his first two seasons), he did this:

Forced Fumbles - Five (5)
Fumble Recoveries - Four (4)
FR returned for TD - One (1)

and yes,

Three (3) career interceptions, one ea his SO, JU, SR seasons...

along with 18.5 career sacks, all from his JU, SR seasons...

ICYMI, he suffered a prenatal injury (umbilical cord wrapped around his wrist, restricting blood flow, development)...

Yes, his missing hand is going to be an issue at the NFL level where the parity of the talent really is that tight...

But he can do so many other things that I just don't see him on the board after the fourth round now...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

https://www.profootballfocus.com/new...n-rarified-air

Harold Landry's combine performance shows he belongs in rarified air...

Harold Landry’s 6.88-second 3-cone at 252-pounds puts him in rarified air for top prospects. Below is every single 250-plus pound defensive lineman drafted in the first round that had a sub-6.9-second 3-cone:

DeMarcus Ware
J.J. Watt
David Pollack
Melvin Ingram
Joey Bosa
T.J. Watt

Wow. Was expecting to see a wiry linebacker like a Ted Hendricks or Jack Lambert type. Vander Esch definitely has more muscle definition since last season...

Round 3 ... this is where legit, impact type players (see Alvin Kamara, Cooper Kupp, Kareem Hunt, possibly Alex Anzalone etc) are sometimes buried in the draft. I think Ireland finds another gem here.

There is a lot to like about Kyzir White. I like his style of play ... a lot.

With an extra 5th and 6th round pick I can 100% guarantee we’ll be trading up in the 3rd round. Looking at the trade value charts, if we package picks 147 and 189 we can move up to the 10th pick of the 3rd round. Kyzir White is exactly who I would target too if he’s still available.
