Our real need is a slot & #2 corner back though.

At this rate he is an instant improvement over Coleman and Bell...so I’ll say it was a need based on their production through the first three games.

Coleman has been nonexistent. Sometimes I seriously forget he’s even on the team.

That's because Bell spent more snaps on the field than Coleman ... by a decent margin.

Which in itself is not really a good sign considering the contract Coleman was given, especially considering how little Safties made this year on the whole

Jumped in far too quickly on that market
Looking like the Coby Fleener deal all over again

Three short weeks into a 17 week season. Far too soon to be making declarative end result speculations.

Agreed 110%. I'm always hoping I'll end up being wrong about players like this. But it looks like we were a little too quick on the trigger with this guy.

We can’t truly address that in free agency right now. We have to trade for that need. I don’t know who all is on the block:

The Panthers waived CB Lorenzo Doss to make room for Eric Reid... He’s New Orleans born and raised so I’d think about claiming him on waivers.

Good young player right here. He'd have to clear through waivers right?

I'm sure JP could give us good feedback on Lorenzo (Tulane). My guess is that another team would snatch him up before us ... assuming we have any interest.

I'll probably get roasted for this but ...

The AZ Cardinals are a really bad team right now. How about we offer them... say a 2020 high round pick or a mid rounder next season (4th rd). Who thought the Rams could get Marcus Peters for a 3? I sure didn't think so.

These corners we've brought in recently apparently aren't gonna pan out or help us make a serious SB push. I'd be interested to pair Lattimore with a guy like Patrick Peterson. He is a mentor, teacher, leader & high quality player on those boundaries.

With some of our off season moves with players (specifically the draft choices & corners) being cut, I wonder if the Saints front office is even interested in entertaining the thought of acquiring a legitimate presence opposite Latt.

Sorry but the Sterling Moore & Amerson's of the world aren't gonna get it done for us. What's up with Dominique Cromartie?

Thoughts?

I’d trade them whatever the **** they wanted for Patrick Peterson. And is anyone else remembering the fact we passed on Tyrann Mathieu in free agency?

I wonder what his agent was asking? He signed with the Texans for one year at $7 million. It would have taken some creative cap work but it could have been done.

How's that 30 mil we spent on DeMario Davis looking now?!?

Look we all thought we finally had gotten past our deep ball defensive ills and it's obvious we still haven't...

But I sure thought we could use more help in the secondary after Patrick Robinson and it didn't happen...

Doss has adequate size, athleticism for the position; his problem is that the very aggressiveness that gives him his edge can be used against him for big plays...

With today's NFL game, he's a PI, Defensive Holding call waiting to happen. Can he be coached up? Possibly, but that free-lance element of his game is what made him...

Well, we're outta first round picks - so that's out...

'Zona needs offensive linemen, but Peat's injured and we're an Armstead toe-jam away from being short...

And I'm not sure Armstead for Peterson is gonna fly in 'Zona, at least not without a 1st rd pick...

And then there's the possibility that if we could get Peterson, he flops here because of DA's system/Payton's meddling - just speculating...

The Seahawks want a 2nd for Thomas. I don't think the Saints could draft someone as good as Thomas in the second.

He'd land in New Orleans and become J Byrd part II.

Dennis Allen would ruin an elite player in his prime with a trash scheme.

Possibly but J Byrd was a flash in the pan before we picked him up. Earl Thomas has been one of the best every year he's been in the league.

Also, ruining ET would be another nail in Dennis Allen's coffin.

Worth mentioning that Can't Guard Mike Thomas is coming up for a deal soon ... since he's in the final year of his deal, we be giving up picks to trade for a 12 game rental.

Not likely to get Earl anyways unfortunately. I just hope he doesn't end up on a team like Atlanta, Carolina or the Bucs.

His broken leg should end these speculations.

Unfortunate injury for KV ... good news is that he is expected to return.

Kenny Vaccaro to miss 2-4 weeks with elbow injury.

Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency

Given that we are in win now mode and have no first round pick next season and very limited cap room to add any pieces we would have to be fairly crafty to make any kind of trade work without disrupting our current roster.

I think CB is our most pressing need with the Robinson injury and the suspect play of Crawley and PJ Williams. Dennard from Cincy is on the last year of a rookie deal and seems to fill a 3rd CB role for them. He might be a guy they would be looking to move for a future asset if they don't see him as a player they would re-sign in this next offseason. Maybe could be had for a 4th or 5th rounder as a rental.

I'd look at any safeties and corners the Seahawks scout because they seem to have better insight than most NFL franchises when it comes to defensive backs...

Dan Arnold might be good enough by next year. But Hill did a nice job last game. Drew had to look at some other options when the Giants took Thomas out of play.

You know what Im thinking. They should draft Foster Moreau LSU senior TE from Jesuit. Oh. And we should definetely sign Bennie Logan..

Agreed on Hill. He does the little things well that never appear on the stat sheet but I see why Sean continues to play him.
