Free Agent Tight End options all but gone - not sure for the Saints there were any options other than Graham...

Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
Cincy can have him (Tyler). He'll be inactive by week 2.

Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
Did we misjudge the safety market and jump the gun on Kurt Coleman for way more money than he probably should’ve been given? Not a lot has happened in free agency for safeties and guys like Morgan Burnett, Eric Reid, Tre Boston, Kenny Vaccaro, etc. are still out there.

And THAT just might be a possible concern. Remember what happened after Vilma left and all those veterans. This stuff cannot be taken lightly. So if no one steps up in his role, this team may have some motivation problems next year. As it stands now, we have a lot of excited players there's are hints of possible overconfidence. |

I like the Kurt signing. He'll definitely help Marcus & Vonn on the back end. |

WTF? Return of Colemen?
https://media.profootballfocus.com/2...nts-Header.png Players added Edge Alex Okafor (84.7), QB Drew Brees (88.6), Edge George Johnson (n/a), OG Jermon Bushrod (40.3), CB Patrick Robinson (89.8), LB Demario Davis (87.3), S Kurt Coleman (47.0), QB Tom Savage (71.1) Players lost QB Chase Daniel (n/a), S Rafael Bush (n/a), OT Zach Strief (retired – n/a), OG Senio Kelemete (48.3) Biggest draft needs Linebacker, wide receiver, offensive line depth Overview Re-signing Brees was longstanding a given for the Saints heading into free agency, however, it didn’t go without drama as New Orleans and the future Hall of Fame quarterback waited until just before the opening of the league new year to agree to terms. With Brees locked up for at least two more seasons and their recent success budding from the 2017 NFL Draft, the Black and Gold on offense seem to remain mostly intact. While the loss of veteran Strief will go a long way, there are still options available for them to sign, or draft come April. Joining that recent stretch of draft success in New Orleans, is Robinson, who re-joins the team on the heels of a career year in Philadelphia, where be played the majority of his snaps in the slot. The Saints would be best-suited to continue that trend as he finished with a career-high grade of 89.8, more than 10.0 points higher than his previous season-best, while he logged a career-high 458 snaps in the slot. With Ken Crawley and Marshon Lattimore on the outside, the return of Coleman to the backend with second-year Marcus Williams and Robinson on the inside, the secondary in New Orleans has been seemingly locked up. – @PFF_Cam |

This signing would make sense considering they just let Mike Mitchell go.

Nicki Jhabvala
@NickiJhabvala Former Titans WR Eric Decker is in fact visiting the #Saints, per source. Alright there we go... Official confirmation. He’d definitely be an upgrade over Brandon Coleman. |
Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
Decker has always been more of an outside receiver than a slot receiver - not sure I see him fitting in here...
|
Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
Yeah never mind... Sean Payton himself tweeted that Decker isn’t visiting the Saints.

Don't forget the $12.46M in 2018 roster bonuses are still in play. They can easily be converted to signing bonuses (team option, player has no input) and amortized over remaining contract years. This can make an additional $9M to $10M available immediately. Loomis loves writing roster bonuses into his contracts for this very purpose. |

We can probably sign Allen Hurns AND Johnathan Hankins for the price of Ndamukong Suh.

I would LOVE to add Allen Hurns.
|
Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
I wouldn't mind adding one of Decker, Maclin, or Hurns.
|
Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
I think Decker and Maclin are probably both pretty close to washed up. I'd rather take a chance on Hurns. Give him one of those 1 year prove it deals that are all the rage lately. If it works out, we've got the opportunity to extend him. If it doesn't, we can walk away with minimal loss.
