Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
Remaining Free Agents On The Market I'd like for the Saints to sign in the second wave of free agency:
DT Johnathan Hankins, 26yo His numbers may seem modest, but they're ever bit comparable to the riskier signing of Suh, and he's legit to draw double-teams; a real lunch pail type who could be signed through his prime with a modest contract... CB Delvin Breaux, 28yo Make it right, get him back; he wants to be in that number; talent is there and now the depth to allow him to get to full strength... WR Jordan Matthews, 26yo Not a big fan as he's now got the perception of being soft; Sean Payton was high on him at one time; if he can be had for a one year contract, let him and Snead compete this season for a longer term contract... RB Orleans Darkwa, 26yo Ingram's getting older, he's a Tulane alum, he could potentially be signed for modest numbers and be groomed to take over Ingram's role... G Luke Joeckel He's a former first round talent who's struggled in former bad systems and with health; he can be had for a team friendly contract and likely would benefit from some good offensive line coaching which we certainly have... |

Hankins very much in the fold of a Nick Fairley...

Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
Saints time to get Hankins or we will be drafting a DE or DT in the 1st!

Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
Now all that money we set aside for Suh has been freed up we can start signing guys again!

I don’t think we’re anywhere near done...
Nick Underhill @nick_underhill Loomis on addressing the remaining needs: “There's still time left before the draft. There's still players out there and available. There's other avenues, there's trades. I can't answer that yet. We're always striving to be able to select … the highest-rated player.” 1:19 PM · Mar 27, 2018 |

Field Yates
@FieldYates The Saints aimed to sign Jimmy Graham earlier this offseason and now appear to be considering another TE reunion, as they hosted Benjamin Watson for a visit, per league source. 3:21 PM · Mar 27, 2018 |

Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
Will New Orleans Saints bet nearly $3 million on Willie Snead? - NFL Nation- ESPN
...Most importantly, Snead proved to be a fantastic possession receiver, leading the Saints with exactly 25 catches on third downs in both 2015 and 2016. Last season, Snead had only four catches on third downs while the Saints plummeted to a shocking 19th in the NFL in third-down efficiency (37.6 percent). The Saints, who have routinely led the NFL in third-down percentage over the past decade with coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees, must find a way to improve in that area. We’ll find out soon if they expect Snead to be part of the solution... |

Lions not likely to sign Ziggy Ansah to long-term deal – ProFootballTalk
Consider this, Robert Quinn and JPP were traded for 4th round picks this offseason. If we could trade our 4th rounder for Ansah we might seriously want to think about that. |

Ansah? No. He's not available for sixteen games, picks and chooses his opponents to pad his stats, favorable film...
What we need is a Hankins/Logan in rotation at the NT - that's the ticket... |

Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
Seems weird that Davis is being so undervalued since many "experts" had him ranked as the #1 LB going into free agency.
The more I've read about him, the more excited I am about the signing. Sure, it would've been nice to get him cheaper, but this was reportedly what they had to pay him in order to win over the other suitors. He seems like a true locker room leader and an on-the-field general, who could very well outshine the last gang green MLB the Saints had. |

His contract seems in line, especially when considering salaries (source - spotrac) on other MLB such as Kuechly, Anthony Hitchens, Bobby Wagner & Alex Olgetree. Davis appears to be on par with BMarshall & Zach Brown. He was top 10 at his position & it looks as if he was paid right around that slot. Dude loves that he is playing close to home, #9 is his QB & Payton is his HC. He has that Ben Watson "vibe" about him. Nolan will coach a good one. One important thing for me ... rarely misses work (played in 78 of 79 games) & balls on Sundays :p. I think we got better in the middle on D. |

Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter Patriots are trading WR Brandin Cooks and a fourth-round pick to LA Rams for the 23rd overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft and a sixth-round pick, league sources told ESPN. 4:49 PM · Apr 3, 2018 Holy cow! That’s an unbelievable surprise. |

Re: 2018 NFL Free Agency
We overpaid for Davis, period. That's not to say he won't be a value addition, but we overpaid for a guy who's only had one good season...
And the Saints FO did so for two reasons; first, shell-shock from the alarming injuries at the LBing position last season; and two, there was some sting they failed again to close and couldn't sway Jimmy Graham to sign back home... Not that not overpaying was the wrong move with Graham - it was the right move. But not being able to convince him to come home at market value and become a Saints superstar again on a Title Run - they didn't have enough cache'... |
