DC is not a top 10 QB but he is the best available, forget Rodgers anit happening wouldn’t want him if he was … opinion. But if we don’t have a true starting QB next season suckage will continue regardless of getting cap happy in 2023. Problem is not overall lack of talent our defense proved again it can keep us in every game if our offense could score 28 points. We lost 5 games to teams scoring 20 points are less only lost 3 games when opponents 30 or more. Just need a QB who can get the ball down the field to our 2 wideouts that make the secondary respect and have to defend that capability. With play action it will open the underneath and middle of the field. Get DC signed and figure the rest out …. WhoDat for life. |
Re: I'd like to try and get Derek Carr
Kamara needs help too.
The offense suffered a lot because they could key on Kamara so much. PC (God help us) needs to be more creative with Kamara but he also needs to be paired with a bruiser counterpart. I'd love a return to the 3 headed monster at RB we used to have. |
Re: I'd like to try and get Derek Carr
I'm warming up to the idea of Derek Carr. I still want a Young quarterback but I'm not sure that we have the coaching staff to develop one.

Re: I'd like to try and get Derek Carr
Things are sounding serious with Carr. According to Underhill he's back at the Saints facilities again today!

Adding Derek Carr could help the Saints keep Michael Thomas
Adding Derek Carr could help the Saints keep Michael Thomas
John Sigler February 7, 2023 11:00 pm CT The last time the New Orleans Saints restructured their contract with Michael Thomas, it seemed to tee up an early release that would send Thomas off to continue his career elsewhere. But the news surrounding Derek Carr might introduce a change of plans. The Saints can always circle back to their contract with Thomas, renegotiate things, and run it back with him in 2023. Of course the first step is acquiring the former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback, possibly by a trade. Adding an established passer — like Carr — could have real appeal to Thomas as he works to get his body right and reestablish himself as one of the league’s best wide receivers. Davante Adams just led the league in touchdown catches (14) while totaling 100 receptions for 1,516 yards with Carr as his quarterback. Thomas could very well be looking at him as someone who can revive his career. That’s the main selling-point New Orleans can offer Thomas, but there are other factors at work. He wouldn’t have to relocate and pick up a new offense in another NFL city. He likes his coaches and the new Saints training staff the team brought in last summer. There aren’t many players who have spent their entire career with just one team, and that might matter to him, too. But it comes down to money. Thomas can’t play on his contract as it is currently written. If nothing changes and he suits up for the Saints in the fall, he’ll trigger a whopping $60 million cap hit in 2024 by dressing out for at least four games. The Saints will need to meet with him and his agent and hash out a new arrangement. A pay cut would have to be discussed, and the likeliest scenario is that his current contract gets ripped up, processed, and redone altogether. A one-year deal featuring heavy incentives could make sense and set up Thomas to cash in next offseason if all goes according to plan. It would be an unexpected twist to his story with the Saints, but stranger things have happened. Thomas commented in a since-deleted tweet on Tuesday evening that he’s keeping receipts on everyone speculating about his future in the NFL, advising them to “stay tuned” about his next move: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FoauN4Xa...jpg&name=small Maybe this means something, maybe it doesn’t. We’re entering the busiest months of the Saints offseason and cryptic tweets like this one are all the rage. We’re all just along for the ride. The only thing certain is that the road ahead of us it uncertain. It feels unlikely that Thomas plays for New Orleans in 2023, but we can’t rule it out, especially if the Saints get their quarterback. |

Re: I'd like to try and get Derek Carr
A second day of meetings with Carr sounds awful serious. This is not what one would expect when simply looking for a brief bridge to another QB. This has all of the trappings of a courtship for a long term relationship by the Saints' front office.

Talk about two birds with one stone.

If we could transplant Thomas' feet and ankles this move would be fire.

It’s not that I don’t like MT, we can’t retain the liability. We have a decent receiving corps already! I say trade for another DB, DE or draft pick before we let him go! I don’t mind Carr at all, but we still need to take the best QB we can get this year!

Re: I'd like to try and get Derek Carr
I would be comfortable with Carr, but what concerns me is Allen bringing in some of his old friends? He didn’t win with the Raiders before?

Wink, wink, Raiders cut Carr Tuesday, he signs with the Saints as soon as FA's can be signed.

Re: I'd like to try and get Derek Carr
If you don't want Carr, what are your other choices? At least choices you can "Control" (and that's what the team is aiming to do here)
Look, I applaud DA for going after the guy he believes is the answer at QB. At least he isn't sitting on his hands waiting for Andy Reid to leapfrog 10 spots and steal him away... Carr is a top 15 QB and not only better than our current QBs - he's better than another option the team can count on landing. |

Transverse process is a small bony projection off the right and left side of each vertebrae. The two transverse processes of each vertebrae function as the site of attachment for muscles and ligaments of the spine as well as the point of articulation of the ribs (in the thoracic spine). While very painful they are not "career ending". No more so that a broken finger. There is no danger to the spinal cord itself from these injuries at all from everything I have read. |

Re: I'd like to try and get Derek Carr
We should see something this week after he's released IMHO. If Saints sign him, we draft a QB next year, other than a late 6th or 7th rounder. The class next year is arguably better . Which one would you draft from this list below?
